Awards Season is upon us and X-Play's getting ready to give out their plaudits for cream of the crop in gaming for 2007. all the people on the X-Play program are Xbot fanboys. Every single show advertises the crapbox and only give negative reviews for the PS3. Did anyone see the one where they announce the worst games, or letdowns of the year. First one up on console bashing Lair, Nintendo, and even the pc games got mentioned. All while there was a big as logo in the back 2007 xbox 360 greates games. They did not mention one bad game for the crapbox it was followed by what games to buy for the xbox 360 this year. What a bunch of tools. X-Play is on the Xbox payroll. It's so freaking obvious its not even funny.

I think it will be Bioshock again as its a bit "different" then COD4. COD4 is awesome but is essentially the same as the other CODs just with cooler weapons, cooler graphics, better AI, different story...but its still essentially COD.

Assassins creed is a good game and I think came close to being a great came but they juuuusssttt missed.

Halo3 again is Halo. Halo is great but its still Halo.

Mario Galaxy is Mario. I haven’t played it but from looking at what they showed it’s like the COD4 of Mario, but it’s still essentially Mario.

BTW I think sequels SHOULD maintain that which makes it essentially the same as its predecessors. I was quite happy with Halo and COD4 (it may even be my personal GOTY).

Oops. I forgot about Mass Effect. I can see that as a GOTY but like Assassins it has some chinks in its armor but the story really pulls you in. I have played it twice and will play it at least 2 more times…. And its “different” too so this could perhaps win.

Reviewers are biased and will review what the people want to see rather then review properly so therefore review score mean nothing because they are people opinions. What matters is how good the game really is.

Good list. Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and BioShock are all that I want to see among main GOTY noms.
UPDATE: God of War 2, COD4, SMG, Uncharted, MP3, Crysis and few others are also great and deserve a nomination at least but those 3 are my top and fave choices.

No PS3 exclusive game should, or consider be GOTY, as they didn't meet up to expectations. Nor should any of the multiplats be considered either, as the 360 version of COD4 is clearly superior.

I dont C how the ps3 library is lacking when its only in its first year cicle. Next year our list will be twice as big with twice as much exclusives for 9.0+ better. You know what's funny? PS3 and 360 have more nominations (5 for 360, 2 for PS3) while Wii has only one BUT Wii is outselling both PS3 and 360. I hate G4. All I watch is their Cinema tech show thing and game Makers. They have always been biased and said it on many shows how they refuse to buy x or y consoles for no reason... There are too many fanboys in the media and on the web now for me to care anymore.

Bioshock is a good contender. SMG and AC too. Assassins Creed was imho actually pushing what I would call truely next gen in many ways... just lacked in certain simple areas like repetition... Uncharted was pretty. But IMHO God of War 2 and COD4 were the best games this year. Screw G4 as they will probably pick something retarded.

I'm going to save all of the comments for this article. Next year if MGS4 and Killzone2 make the Game of the Year List, the PS3 Fanboys will be raving about G4. Then all of a sudden G4 will no longer be Xbots. Time for the PS3 Fanboys to accept that the PS3 is NOT the PS2 and probably won't dominate the industry in the same manner. Its ok to have multiple consoles out there. It gives the hardcore gamer a choice of many great games to play on all the consoles.

I own both consoles and I agree with the picks. I have played Uncharted, Ratchett, and Heavenly Sword. I'm surprised Heavenly Sword didn't make the cut. However the others are not game of the year material. They're repeats of something that has already been done. There was nothing new with Uncharted or Ratchett.

Bioshock and AC are innovative and next Gen. HS would also have made my list for Game of the Year. Mainly because the graphics and animation are off the chart. It wouldn't win game of the year because it didn't add anything new to button mashing games. Overall,COD4 is a great choice for game of the year. It was innovative and added new dimension to a FPS. I've never experienced a multiplayer that is so addictive and fun. The Campaign mode was amazing. The only thing missing from this game was a co-op mode. Bioshock was an amazing and addictive game as well. It made a FPS into a mini RPG. The graphics rocked and the gameplay blew me away.

I hope someday we will see the game console war come to an end. I enjoy the choice i have of playing great games on both the 360 and the PS3.

Well they even admit that COD 4 and COD 2 are the same game just take place in a different time period. and COD 2 was hardly even in this generation. They use the same engine and just added in a physics engine. gameplay is EXACTLY THE SAME! So yeah saying halo 3 is halo 2.5 is ridiculous because they completely revamped the graphics, gave us a ton of new stuff and added in multiplayer elements that no other games has (forge, video and screen captures, the best matchmaking system hands down). It makes me laugh so hard when i hear ppl say Halo 3 is the same game then i see them playing COD games. COD 2-4 are ALL the same and they ALL have the same shallow, lousy gameplay. Bioshock looked and sounded great and had atmosphere but the gameplay was rediculously repetitive and disappointing overall - especially the finale.

Assassins Creed - although showing huge potential - was also highly mundane, repetitive and full of glitches.

If simple and repetive gameplay isn't a problem and looks and sound are a major part of selection process - which they obviously were for AC and BS - then R&C, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted are easy picks for GOTY.

Another example of inconsistent judging and fanboyism.

Believe it or not, you can say that Halo3 isn't game of the year without being a PS3/Wii fanboy. It IS a great game, but in my opinion COD4 knocks it out of the water in single and multiplayer - I know lots of friends online who haven't even put Halo3 back in their 360 since playing COD4. It's an absolute blast. Making a modern day shooter with the fast paced Call of Duty formula has produced an amazing game and I think it should be game of the year.

The media shows viewers what they want. Majority of X-Play viewers own 360, so they'll put more 360 games. Majority of Americans that go to reviews and such own a 360, so 360 games will be able to "catch a break" on problems better than PS3 games. (Mass Effect is a great example)

Bioshock will probably win, but Galaxy SHOULD win IMO. and either Ratchet, Uncharted, or BOTH should be in there. probably take out Halo 3 or Assasin's Creed.

Your all a joke. i agree more than anything with that list, I would switch AC for Uncharted but thats the only switch I would make, hate all you want about most of it being 360 games, you think the 360 is outselling the ps3 because the games suck? get a F'ing life.

And yea .. COD4 is awsome .. and i find myself playing it rather often :P but in my opinnion Halo3 is a much more complete game with much more´cool options than COD .. thats why it should be GoTY.. ppl tend 2 not want it, cuz its been released so long time ago, COD4 is (almost) new, and more exiting 2 play.. but i think in a month you wont think thats GoTY either...
