When did fighting games become so academic? Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono gives an extensive tutorial on all of the new features in the upcoming game Street Fighter X Tekken. The game continues to impress with its fast fighting mechanics and action however there’s a handful of things that concern us. Street Fighter X Tekken doesn’t look ‘beautiful’ like SoulCalibur V, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom and/or Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It has a very ‘sloppy’ art style going in and even has pixelated frames when the camera zooms in for an extreme close-up.
Overall Street Fighter X Tekken looks to be a push in the right direction, however the closer we get to the release of the game and all the gimmicks surrounding it – we start to wonder if this is the proper direction to go or not. 2012 is another crowded year for top fighting games – we’ll continue to bet and put our faith in the team at Capcom to release yet another outstanding game in the long running franchise.
Or it's about to leave the storefront like another Capcom title.
With Street Fighter 6 now upon us, it's time to look back at some classic Street Fighter titles, beginning with Street Fighter X Tekken.
It was a cool gamble imo. In reality, everyone were waiting for Namco version, Tekken X Street Fighter.
What killed this game was their planned reliance on GaaS with the whole gem system. It made little sense and made the game extremely unbalanced. Not to mention the unbalance of most of the characters, especially on the Tekken side
Ahhh the game that Capcom had DLC on the disc on release yet you had to pay to unlock it
VGChartz's Daniel Parker: "Tekken and Street Fighter - two giants of the head-to-head fighting genre. A clashing of decades-old titans that was once thought to be a dream matchup that would never happen. It ignited a flame of excitement that quickly fizzled out and became a cautionary tale for game developers."

None of those games mentioned above are trying to emulate 2D hand drawn art. The art style doesnt look "sloppy" to me at all? Uhh,people will find anything to complain about these days. The presentation of the game looks faithful to the source material on both sides of the fence. The Tekken characters turned out a lot better than I expected. I am also digging the multiple systems used to make this an indepth fighting game. I think this game will be heavily played at tournaments despite it's so called visual defects.
"Sloppy art style" Douche bag journalism strikes yet again. The art style is same as Street Fighter 4 and the other later versions. There wasnt any complaints then. Why now? Could you not of made a more justified valid negative comment? Or was it simply you couldnt find one?
