Donkey Kong Country for the Super NES was a revolutionary game in some big ways. Aside from being one of the best-selling games on the console, it was one of the first games to use pre-rendered 3D graphics, which made it look exceptionally good next to other games at the time. Its soundtrack was also highly celebrated, and to this day is considered among gaming’s best.
When listening to DKC’s soundtrack today and hearing how well it holds up, it’s easy to imagine what a big deal it was more than 17 years ago. It still features some of the most iconic and easily recognizable tunes in all of videogames, and deserves a spot in any videogame music lover’s collection.
Screen Rant Writes "It's been almost a decade since players have seen a new Donkey Kong Country game, but with the opening of Super Nintendo World, now is the perfect time to release a new DKC game. The last entry was 2014's Tropical Freeze (a slightly enhanced version was re-released for the Switch in 2018), which received rave reviews and between its Wii U and Switch sales, performed very well. The original Donkey Kong Country also spotlighted environmental themes, which would prove to be just as salient if a new entry were to release in the coming years."
No its a perfect time for another 3D Donkey Kong. I dont want 2D anything.
We need more 3D stuff, the side scrollers start to all blend together eventually. The last Kirby game was great and refreshing because they moved to 3D.
"Many SNES glitches have side effects that you never thought were possible so here are 10 cursed and crazy ones that you can pull off." - Alex Legard from Video Chums
The Donkey Kong Country series was last seen in 2014. With the advent of the Nintendo Switch, it's time for a return to the spotlight.
Donkey Kong needs to go 3D, he's too restricted to what he can do in 2D. Hope Nintendo do for Donkey Kong what they're doing for Kirby.
Release HD Remakes of Donkey Kong Country 1-3 and a Remake of the classic Donkey Kong as well.
I loved the Donkey Kong games and Tropical Freeze is brilliant. I would certainly like to see a new game this year.
So much nostalgia in that post...
Such an awesome soundtrack.
Oh man, DKC has one of the best soundtracks of all time. That game was a BEAST when it came out. I remember trading games for it on my school bus.
Heh, it's been so long that I had totally forgotten it even had music. The only sound I can remember is that of DK/Diddy Kong knocking from inside a barrel to be set free.
