In what appears to be a new leak, a list of what seems like all the initial DLC planned for Street Fighter X Tekken and its prices has surfaced. Take this with a giant gran of salt.

Planning the DLC before the game is even finished, shame on u crapcom !

Mohdunknown4464d ago

I am not giving Capcom excuses, but all companies plan DLC before the game is finished

Yi-Long4464d ago

... if you buy a Capcom game on day 1, you already know you'll end up getting screwed over with the DLC-milking.

Capcom will nickel-and-dime you for all it's worth.

Just wait a year and get the Super/Ultimate/Extreme/Complet e/Whatever version instead for 30 bucks in the bargainbin.

Baka-akaB4463d ago (Edited 4463d ago )

Well obviously it is not getting screwed over if you know what you are getting into and dont care about it .

I and some other wont stay there missing on a whole year of fighting game joy for this .

With or without dlc , and with most fighting games publishers , it's pretty much the same process the FG community usually gets behind and is fine with , and wich might not sit with others (wich is fine too) .

- We get a game , we enjoy it
- A new version gets out with a refresh of the game via tweaks , rebalances and new stuff .

Again might be annoying to some , but it does refresh a game loved by others and revive the competition frenzy . It's basically the same for a few other mp based genres

And at least this gen , with new habits online for the whole gaming genre , it is no longer full priced re-release scams as seen in the past . And if going too far and when needed , the FG community easily punish a publisher ... as seen in a few cases such as UMVC3

Solid_Snake374463d ago

lol what a joke, they plan DLC when the game´s not out yet....

bruddahmanmatt4463d ago

You're a F'ing idiot if you buy this game when it launches. We all know that a Super/Hyper/Ultimate/Remix/Tag version is coming along with a slew of DLC so you really only have yourself to blame when Capcom eventually bends you over.

ShinMaster4463d ago

At least, it started that way and then turned into a bad developer habit.

LastDance4463d ago (Edited 4463d ago )

DLC 1 - Color costume pack 1
DLC 2 - Color costume pack 2
DLC 3 - Color costume pack 3
DLC 4 - Color costume pack 4
DLC 5 - Color costume pack 5
DLC 6 - Color costume pack 6
DLC 7 - Color costume pack 7
DLC 8 - Color costume pack 8

Edit:
DLC 9 - Color costume pack 9
DLC 10 - Color costume pack 10
DLC 11 - Color costume pack 11

This is how it is with ALL companies, you plan ahead.

ThichQuangDuck4463d ago

Ok this is actually good for Capcom, hear me out the DLC is colors, gems and costumes which can hopefully all be unlocked in game but it is impossible to tell. At least Akuma, Ogre and game modes are unlockable through game rather than pay for them which is somewhat respectable. It actually isnt respectable for capcom but it is a little better. Gems is a risky decision especially when some can be payed for

Flipgeneral4463d ago

Guys, this gen has been going on for what, 5-6 years now? Maybe I'm a little jaded when it comes to hearing about DLC, but it's obvious that publishers/devs have DLC planning/releases throughout the development cycle. It's foolhardy to think that DLC is always planned post-release.

I'm not defending capcom or the DLC business model, I am just a little puzzled as to how gamers have not realised this yet. Get used to it guys!

Prototype4463d ago

I "was" thinking about buying this somewhere down the line...

But after seeing this, I'll spend my $ on companies that don't do pre-planned DLC.

Sorry Capcom, back in the 90's you were one of my favorite companies, but now you just lost a very faithful customer. I will only buy used from them here on out until they learn to stop with this pre-dlc garbage.

kaveti66164463d ago

", I'll spend my $ on companies that don't do pre-planned DLC."

Like who?

Prototype4463d ago

@Kaveti

Namco with Tekken - outside the download to make 5 Dark Res. online I have yet to see them do any dlc for their games, and I'm a big fan of Tekken 3 and Tag. I have 5 DR online and 6, not once did I see any DLC listed or released.

Sega with Virtua Fighter 5 - Another game I haven't seen tainted with DLC; granted the 360 version has online but I play on the PS3 and no "pre-planned Extras"

SE with Final Fantasy - A lot can argue 13, vs13, 13-2 is considered DLC, currently I haven't seen a lot of nickel-and-dime that Capcom does; I hate to say it but at least SE releases games as expansions or continuations, or "at the time this was going on..."

Konami with Metal Gear Solid - Not one time since I played MGS have I seen ANY patches or "DLC" for the series - I don't count MG online because with online games patches and expansions are expected.

Atlus - Catherine and Demon Souls (not Dark Souls) have 0 DLC released, and both are good games I will continue to play if they released some sort of sequel.

Those are the big games I still play to this day that I don't see with "Day 1 DLC" or "Planned DLC" within 6 months of release. I'm sure there's other games but the majority I either don't play or know about.

kaveti66164463d ago

It is rumored that SE cut a whole game's worth of content from the first FF13 game, and that this content may have later been used in FF13-2. If that's the case, then SE is just as bad, if not worse, than Capcom.

As long as Capcom doesn't cut out game modes that you paid for in order to get you to buy the DLC, then I don't think it's a major problem. Bungie (or MS) locked players out of several multiplayer modes like Team Slayer and Big Team Battle until they paid for the map packs.

6 DLC Characters...are they high?

Mohdunknown4464d ago

Yeah I hope they can be unlocked by playing the game and this is just to unlock them from the getgo

rdgneoz34463d ago

2 are unlocked from gameplay, and the other 4 are new characters it seems.

Unlocks two secret characters, Akuma and Ogre, as well as all additional character colors and special modes "without having to perform the in-game tasks to unlock them".

Baka-akaB4464d ago

most likely unlock for the most lazy

lizard812884463d ago

I don't mind DLC that is like that. Capcom should be using that too, than putting gamers through the ringer. They could make alot of money.

Don't want to beat arcade mode on hard to unlock Evil Ryu? Just buy him for $3.

I believe they did that with 3rd Strike online.

That way, you can either unlock them, via gameplay, or just buy all of the modes. I think it is a win-win.

MrGunny944464d ago

So they did a cut on stuff THAT SHOULD BE IN THE GAME? and then sell just for more $$$?

Sure capcom Sure. Not getting a peny from me with that DLC

-Mika-4464d ago

And how do you know that content was suppose to be in the game? Stop jumping to conclusions without proof.

unknownhero11234463d ago

but how do you know it wasn't suppose to be in game? sorry, I love being a smartass :P.

anyways, I'm not surprised. It's capcom for heaven's sake!

Nitrowolf24463d ago

Isn't it obvious?

The games not even out yet and already have a list of their planned dlc.

More then enough time to stuff the characters on the disc.

They did this with Capcom Vs. Marvel
and the Street Fighter games.

The proof is already provided. Not like the game is using up all the space on the dvd or blu-ray

lizard812884463d ago

That is what they did with Dead Rising 2. Instead of putting in cheat codes or unlockables, you have to BUY big head frank, or slow-motion gameplay, ect. That shit should be in the game!

Baka-akaB4464d ago

I think it is quite likely that the character dlc would be for people too lazy to unlock through the game . Like the two character in KOF XIII .

Simon_Brezhnev4463d ago

If you seriously think they will give you free characters then you need to do some more thinking. They do nothing like KOF13. If they charge for costumes what makes you think they wont charge for extra characters.

Baka-akaB4463d ago (Edited 4463d ago )

Those are just unlikely to be the dlc ones . They'd try to sell others imo .

And the more and so far more serious leaks from guys like Lupinko confirm at least half as playable from the start .

Finally , it's silly how people are just hoping bandwagons at hearsays . KOFXIII actually sells you 3 characters so far , all of them variants of existing characters with new moves . Not really complaining as in fact i bought them .

I just find it hilarious how so many are on capcom's case with fighting games , when only namco , no ... not even truly namco , only the Tekken studio , hasnt tried yet to sell characters and stuff .

Do they deserves bashing for their antics ? Sure , but what about all the others getting free passes ?

Simon_Brezhnev4463d ago

Naw capcoms not the only ones but their the worst when it comes to DLC. My favorite fighting game this generation is Blazblue series but im fed up with Aksys. Probably others get a free pass because their not as popular and you know that. Most people who like SF series hate BB series.

nightcrawler4464d ago

to pay for characters...ok...
to pay for costumes... .I.

Baka-akaB4464d ago (Edited 4464d ago )

quite the opposite there for me . I strongly dislike dlc characters , as it also pose a problem for tournaments and logistic , or just being able to move to different places without carrying your accounts info .

Costumes ? who cares you can live without it , and if you can't you buy it full price , or discounted later on .

SanjiHimura4463d ago

It won't pose a problem for tournaments here in the US. As a tournament orgainizer myself, I can tell you that if you DON'T include DLC as a legal character, unless it is broken, you will get in trouble with the fanbase. The only reason why DLC was banned in the MK tournament at EVO last year was that there was not a balance patch delivered that was promised to be delivered when EVO's PS3s went offline a month before the tournament.

It was a cool gamble imo. In reality, everyone were waiting for Namco version, Tekken X Street Fighter.

Ryuha1234h316d ago

I don’t know. I enjoyed this game. I thought it was a great crossover.

TricksterArrow316d ago (Edited 316d ago )

Yep, played very little of it, but from what I played, it was serviceable enough. Could've been better? Yes, but then again, you can say that about pretty much anything.

maniacmayhem316d ago

What killed this game was their planned reliance on GaaS with the whole gem system. It made little sense and made the game extremely unbalanced. Not to mention the unbalance of most of the characters, especially on the Tekken side

Sgt_Slaughter316d ago

Ahhh the game that Capcom had DLC on the disc on release yet you had to pay to unlock it

Street Fighter & Tekken - A Mash-Up Not Meant for Greatness

VGChartz's Daniel Parker: "Tekken and Street Fighter - two giants of the head-to-head fighting genre. A clashing of decades-old titans that was once thought to be a dream matchup that would never happen. It ignited a flame of excitement that quickly fizzled out and became a cautionary tale for game developers."

The inclusion of gems ruined it from the start.
