Soul Calibur V: Namco Details The New DLC

There’s no rest for the team at Project Soul. Even though development ended on SOULCALIBUR V a few weeks ago, there’s been plenty of work for Them to do preparing a wealth of downloadable content (DLC) to keep fans fighting.

Launch day DLC...
*raises middle finger*

Every time this happens I seriously consider finding a new hobby. DLC is what's killing this industry.

EXPANSION packs yes, DLC money grabs can go die in a fu**ing fire.

What's even more offensive is the fact the media rarely calls out this type of bullshit. We've been warmed up to the idea of paying for games piecemeal. I blame the Horse Armours, CoD map packs, and palette swapped skin packs for this.

I'm sure the argument will surface, "But games have bigger budgets these days with HD graphics and they need to recoup their losses". Do what any other well run business would do if their costs are escalating, cut back a bit. We don't need crazy high res textures these days for a game to be good these days, the retro and indie market proves that.

Games don't always need the best graphics, the best sound etc. Imagination and creativity in your work is far more important than a 2048x2048 ass texture. If you give credit to your fans that they are intelligent individuals who respond positively to quality entertainment you'll find it much more rewarding. A finished product instead of one blatantly made as a front to sell crap is a far better product worth my money.

but the game has been finished for 2 months, so while its completely possible it's been done and could be on disk, they could have started making them 2 months ago....sooo who knows

im still gettin it anyway, i have 50$ of psn money for free anyway

Instead of pouring out time and money (if ever this is the case, and that these additonal contents aren't already on the disc) on DLCs, why not spend time and money on bringing all the characters back? Seriously, we lost Zasalamel, Setsuka, Talim, and Yun-seong, but we're getting 3 mimics (Edge Master, Kilik, Elysium), and 3 Sophitia clones (Patroklos, Pyrrha, and Pyrrha Omega)!

I call the latter either lame and lazy, or, simply put, Team Soul has lost its drive and fire to create a full-fledged, complete package Soul Calibur game.

The Tekken series removed only a few characters in the past, but most of them were replaced by improved and new characters.

One thing is for sure: I will not get this game day 1. This is sad because I've always considered myself as a big SC fan ever since SC2. Sigh...

One serious look at SCV will prove easily that they werent lazy on SCV . They are underfunded compared to the tekken team , and even apparently threaten to be disbanded with no SCV in sight .

And it has been established they were even under time constraint and duress , so much that they couldnt finish all characters and had to put forth mimics and styles for custom modes instead because rushed to release the game by namco execs .

And where do you think the order comes from , about dlc parts ? Not them .

You are right to vote with your dollar , but it's not really the Team Soul's fault there .

PS :

the setsuka style is at least still there for CAS . And no the normal Patroklos is still a new character . It's still is derivated from Sophitia indeed , but it's still different .

Now of course Zasalamel , talim and Yun seong are still lost to us , saves some potential free or most likely paid dlc .

I agree on your defense. However, the inclusion of 2 other mimics and 2 other Sophitia clones could have been used for 1-2 new characters, or other game-related aesthetics. Plus, you can't take away the fact that these inclusions will have a negative effect on SC's reputation, whether they were pressured to deliver the game in a forced and rushed manner or not.

But the thing is doing mimics doesnt takes away much time since you just reuse animations on models .

And i dont disagree about it tarnishing the game . Still doesnt take away the game being a great sum of parts with new characters and fighting styles + most old ones .

And while painful , having some new models for kilik and sophitia beats having none
