IGN: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Playtest

There's no doubting that this is, by far, the finest looking racing game around, but there are still a few technical shortcomings. The London track in particular suffers from some pretty noticeable screen tearing. Some of the effects used in replays look a bit unpolished as well. These will hopefully improve for the main GT5 game. Or, maybe Polyphony will go crazy with the downloadable content and actually update the graphics engine gradually.

IGN has only sampled Prologue through a few races and events so far, but it already seems like a production worthy of the Gran Turismo name -- at least as much as the Japan-only Gran Turismo 4 Prologue was prior to the full GT4's release.

The game looks amazing in the video clips ive seen, and Ive downloaded the Japanese demo which feels very, very nice. Photorealistic games are a big step closer.

I believe Gran Turismo would be improved immeasurably with vehicle damage allowed. I understand that the manufacturers dont want their prized cars to look damage, but would that really affect their rep. in the videogame age? Sony/ Polyphony have enough clout to say to car makers that if you want your game in, you have to accept the vehicle damage feature.

With, or without Im gonna be queuing up for this one.

WOW! IGN has something bad to say about a PS3 game.
This game will be perfect and blow any other racing game out of the water. It has always been this way and it will stay this way for awhile.

...GT5 looks terrific and I'm using it as my excuse to finally get my PS3 however, if they don't fix the screen tearing issue I am not buying it. Too many of the next gen games feature slowdown, texture popping and screen tearing. These types of graphical issues should have been left behing last gen - not sold as acceptable just because we now have higher poly counts.

Forza 2 physics + Forza 2 damage + GT5 visuals = best driving simulator ever!

Seems like some of the media want to pick at slight technical floors in PS3 games that the general public wouldn't even notice more than they want to review the game, surprise surprise hey and unfortunately it's not the same for other console's...

At least GameSpot finally got exsposed as being payed off...
