Hands-On Preview: MLB 08: The Show (PS3)

MLB 08 follows up on last year's critically acclaimed title, MLB 07. This year's title looks a good deal better than the 07 iteration. The development team put a great deal of enhancement into the textures, lighting engine, and facial details, which makes the game look very close to a real baseball broadcast. Sony had MLB 08 side by side with MLB 07 running on identical Bravia XBR LCD's and the difference was night and day.

I don't even like baseball and I might buy this game. The new addtions to the gameplay mechanics, new features, custom soundtracks, and obvious upgrade in graphics are intriguing.

I was wondering when they were going to start taking advantage of the PS3 graphics with the MLB and NBA franchises. The visuals always sucked with their games. They should be able to make the premier baseball and basketball titles with the programming resources they have access to inhouse.

Last year, MLB 07 was the best looking baseball title on the market. the NBA series isn't the best graphically, but it's right up there with NBA Live and the 2K series

yes, we must support first party devs to the fullest.
there are some 3rd parties that drop gems too, so suport them as well. we as ps3 owners have to make it a point THAT WE DO NOT buy crap ports. we have a voice= our dollars.

i agree with you. i thought the graphics in 07 were good. Now i cant wait for 08. Best baseball experience out there. I hope they add in-game chat online. That would it make it much more better.

i'm stating my opinion that sony can cover all bases.and that's great as a ps3 owner.

MLB the show might not always look the best, but it clearly is the best in terms of what it offers and gameplay. I love the series and now that the graphics can easily surpass the competitions, it's a no brainer. This is another must have, can only play it on ps3, game.

I first bought 2k7 and it was horrible , I for some reason always end up buying 2 baseball games to see which one is good. During the baseball season I had a crappy 32 inch sony wega and it still looks good. Just about a month ago I went out and bought a sony bravia full 1080p and man I cant put this game down . the gameplay feels smoother , the graphics with facial expression . The show 08 will be the best baseball game out there again with all these new features . So Thanks to the people at sony for keep making this baseball franchise. Because other than the people that has a ps3 everybody else thinks the other title is better. all i can say is they wish it was anywhere close.

me to 2k7 sucked balls!! i aslo bought mlb 07 i thought it was an average game at best. bring back MVP baseball '05 the best baseball game ever!!!
