Artists and creators have always had a rocky relationship with reviewers. And in the game industry, this is especially true – poor review scores can cost a company its income, its reputation and its future.

In the past, a bad review could be pushed aside as "one person's opinion", but review aggregates count all media opinions into one overall score. And this score is used by retailers, publishers and employers to make crucial decisions. It's no surprise that developers become frustrated by our culture's reliance on the boiled-down review score.
