Console Domination: 2012 Preview - 60 games to look out for this year

Console Domination writes: 2011 was a big year for games, just look at our retrospective if you need any more proof of that. By comparison, 2012 is not looking all that bad either, in fact despite the impending 2012 doomsday in December, the line-up of games coming out in the next 12 months has us much more excited than at this same time last year. With several big name franchises such as Mass Effect, Borderlands, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Hitman, Final Fantasy and many others bringing out new instalments during the course of the year, at face value 2012's offerings certainly appear to be far superior to last years line-up.

As we eagerly anticipae the first wave of 2012's heavy hitters to start rolling around, just for you Console Domination has whipped up a quick list of 60 of the biggest titles coming (or rumored to be coming) in 2012... You may want to hide your credit card. Enjoy!

Not a single handheld game (3DS or Vita) mentioned. Bullshit.

intoxica4911d ago

The website is called Console Domination. Not handheld gaming. They focus on consoles dude

klecser4911d ago (Edited 4911d ago )

3DS and Vita are consoles. They just happen to be handheld. In every other respect they fit the definition of a dedicated console for games. And PCs aren't consoles. They're included on the list. Handheld gamers apparently don't count.

Good list, there are a tonne of good games coming out this year. I personally can't wait for a few of those. Bring on M
Mass Effect 3 and Bioshock: infinite!

They already did that in 2017 with origins. I don’t think a reboot is on the cards when Ubisoft is about to go down under lol

I hope the splinter cell remake sees the light of day before the company closes

Inverno117d ago

I doubt they'll be closing, but they are primed to be eaten up by a bigger comp. Also 2017 was nearly a decade ago, it could use another reboot or rather it should just be retired.

RaidenBlack117d ago

Origins was the reboot.
But that also alienated the original AC lovers, abit. Not everybody adores the perma-change of the IP to be vast RPGs.
What I instead propose is, alternate between Valhalla/Shadows type AC RPGs and Mirage/ACII like non-RPG releases.

It’d be nice if they made parkour feel new

Put the series to bed, It's tired! Revisit your stagnant properties.

What do you do when you've already milked everything dry

Noskypeno117d ago

What is old might feel new again. A new splinter cell with semi open levels but still having a linear structure (not just one giant open world) that have multiple paths to complete the objective but still have stealth be the main priority would feel fresh, especially with modern graphics and military gadgets .

FinalFantasyFanatic117d ago

I agree, from anecdotal evidence, all franchises eventually stagnate, it might be a good time to start something new.

PRIMORDUS117d ago

"it might be time for a reboot." No it might be time to put this shit to rest for a few yrs. A good 4-5 then come back.

Profchaos117d ago

Total franchise reboot. This ac game is basically the hail Mary to keep Ubisoft alive if this fails the share price will be so low they will be forced to sell and likely absorbed into another org as the Ubisoft name carries almost no weight.

Don't get me wrong they will end up selling after ac regardless but it will be the difference of getting the deal they want vs the deal they don't

Tell me how that's going to be significantly different than colonial America. AC is about showcasing different cultures throughout history. They already did Native Americans in AC3, so then just cowboys, outlaws, ranchers, etc? Kinda feel like there's already a game out there that does that really freaking well. Hmmm, maybe the one in the thumbnail?

Loved Asuras Wrath. It’s my profile avatar for PS

cbuc1125245d ago

Hell Yeah, Asura is so bad ass!

Venoxn4g245d ago

Great game... wouldn't mind a remaster

Abnor_Mal245d ago

Loved Rain, funnily I was just thinking of it this week.

jznrpg245d ago

Definitely a good game and loved the art style. My daughter watched me play it when she was 4 years old. I’ll have to replay it with her someday now that she’s older. It’s crazy it’s been around 11 years.

Abnor_Mal245d ago

I was thinking of pulling out my PS3 super slim this winter to replay Rain, and try to tackle some of the backlog I acquired.

Knightofelemia245d ago

I love Enslaved such a sleeper hit, Asuras Wrath a very good game I still own, and I wish EA would put out a new Dante's Inferno another game I enjoyed. I never heard of the Rain game I might have to try it out might give Ebay a snoop or two.

gold_drake245d ago

enchanted arms and folklore most definitely.

Knightofelemia245d ago
