Dark Souls PC online petition surpassed 50,000 signs in just 3 days

DSOGaming writes: "Dark Souls’ PC petition could very well be the best and most successful online petition we’ve seen lately. Make no mistake, a lot of petitions have appeared these past years for various console games, like Asura’s Wrath and Dragon’s Dogma, but none of them was as successful as this one. In just three days, the online petition has surpassed the 50,000 signs milestone. Just, wow."

Everyone should get a chance to experience this amazing game!

Heartnet3541d ago

Then they should buy a console.. like everyone else had to :)

@heartnet. Congratulations for making the dumbest comment all day on N4G.

Anyone that agrees with that comment is admitting to being a console fanboy, not a video game fan. Any gamer with sense understands its good for the industry for more people to have access to a game.

I possess all three platforms and I think every one of them has its own charm. I have already played Dark Souls but it would play and feel differently on PC.

jrbeerman113541d ago

some people think that a game being released on PC automatically means it will be pirated a ton.

Which is too bad for the legitimate PC gamers. I always get multi games on PC, because not only do I prefer playing on my laptop, but I also love the extras you get with it.

Extras like:

Graphical options (not just better graphics, but choice of better FPS or higher rez and shaders)

Mods (home made expansions, armor sets, graphical enhancers, performance boosts, unofficial patches (looking at you bethesda you get beaten by community with patches) and sometimes completely new games using an engine such as counter strike)

Control Options (KB&M, xbox 360 controller, or any kind of combination of third party controllers or keyboard and mouse or keyboard and controller)

I have Dark Souls for PS3 but I would buy it again for PC for all these things.

AKS3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

How would it play so differently on PC? I would be playing it with a 360 controller just as I did with The Witcher 2 and other action RPGs. A PC version would have some tech advantages but it would otherwise be the same game.

Are you protesting that The Witcher 2 should never come to consoles because it just wouldn't feel the same?

Ducky3541d ago

^ He's actually saying that the Witcher2 should come to consoles because each platform has its charm, so the console version will play differently.

Also, the jump from 30fps to 60+ fps usually changes how a game ends up playing.

AKS3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

I haven't found that to be the case at all. I have lots of PC versions of games I played through first on a console (usually PS3, but not always).

I have Dead Space 2, L.A. Noire, Arkham Asylum, and lots of other games I also played on console. I have a reasonably high spec rig, and there's no point in which I don't easily recognize the game, and if it's an action game or has elements of action that aren't well suited for kb/m (RAGE was a special case in which I used the kb/m for the FPS segments and a 360 controller for driving), I usually play through it with a 360 controller. The feel is quite often the same, just with much higher spec settings.

my thoughts exactly (y).

john23541d ago

Precisely that. PC gamers said that it was great that console gamers would be able to enjoy The Witcher 2. Can't see why console gamers hesitate in saying the same thing for Dark Souls PC

If you can afford a gaming pc, then you can also afford a console if you really want to play this game (and other console exclusives).

admiralthrawn873541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

i played for ps3 and i would buy it again for my pc because it would be a superior version of a game i love. No framerate issues, better AA, higher native resolution, just to name a few. The framerate being 60fps alone would make this the best version, being an advantage to the gameplay. And if they allowed it, the possibilities for modding would be amazing.

john23541d ago

If it ever get's released on the PC, it won't be modding friendly. Well, that's my guess.

SP3333D-O3541d ago

All the reasons I've been BUYING games for my PC instead of my PS3.

LightofDarkness3541d ago

John2 is probably right, companies with little to no PC pedigree rarely release games with mod tools (especially ones that are worth a damn), but one can hope.

LightofDarkness3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

Or, and this is just me talking, we could get a vastly improved version that has no framerate or resolution problems and possibly has mod support. But what do I know, right?

@below: please find me an interview or some dialogue where this has been said by From Software, because I can't find it. Or is it just wishful thinking on your part?

Optical_Matrix3541d ago

No. It won't have mod support. End of story. That's part of the reason why From doesn't want it on PC. Because they feel mods would just ruin the experience they intended which is a strictly secluded and immersive one.

Ducky3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

^ Why would a mod necessarily be something that ruins the experience?

Look at a game like STALKER, where the mods have actually turned the game into a much better experience than the vanilla game.

TopDudeMan3541d ago

Namco bandai would have to pay a company to port it, though because Fromsoftware should be working on the next souls game very soon, considering the success of this game. It just might not be an expense they're willing to take for the 50,000 people who say they'd buy it.

jthamind3541d ago

this, plus the fact that just because 50k people sign a petition, that doesn't mean that 50k people will buy the game. i could call up five non-gamer friends right now and get them to sign it, but that means nothing.

TopDudeMan3541d ago

Exactly, and how many of the 50,000 are gonna pirate it? The number just gets smaller and smaller. They have enough on their plate. I say, if they want to bring the series to the PC, do it with the next game.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3541d ago

They're currently finishing off AC5. If anything I'd expect a AC5 spin off first then a new souls game.

TopDudeMan3541d ago

AC5 is almost finished, as you said. I can almost guarantee you they'll have a new souls game in 2013.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3541d ago

Yeah, you're probably right. People definitely prefer the Souls series over the armoured core series. Either way though, I can't wait I love both series^^
