L.A. Noire – A potentially great concept foiled by poor design

TVGB: L.A. Noire is an egregiously hollow experience. I’d like to say that it helps bridge the gap between gameplay and story, but it clearly does not do anything of the sort. I’d like to say the impressive facial animations instantly make you forget you’re playing a game, but they certainly do not. What the game tries to accomplish is in vain due to the poor choices made on the design side.

LA Noire puzzles me, they went to extraordinary lengths to create LA in painstaking detail but you could do nothing in it only drive around and take note of a few landmarks. Confusing design choice and kind of a wasted opportunity

I don't think L.A Noir was ever designed with a future in mind. I still think it was made as a tech demo to show investors it's worth parting with their money for. Im certain we will be seeing this facial technology used in GrandTheftAutoV.

From the looks of the character models in the trailer. I highly doubt it.

I felt Heavy Rain had a lot more going than LA Noire. It's an ok game, but it's not something I would recommend right off the top type of game. There are times I feel this game is getting way too much praise.

If anything, GTA could learn a thing or two from L.A. Noire. L.A. Noire is immersive and fun while GTA is a boring, glorified driving sim.

You are comparing LA NOIRE to GT5 the driving simulation game or calling GTA a driving simulation game!??Get real!Even comparing it to GTA4 or any GTA game to LA NOIRE its nonsense, but comparing it to a driving simulation game or calling GTA4 or any GTA game .... a driving sim its something out of this world and plain stupidity! So for you GTA its a glorified driving sim.Thats new to me.

Yeah. I've tried getying into GTA IV on many occassions and each time was the most boring time I've ever had with a game in 20 years. I spent the majority of playtime just driving people around. At least in L.A. Noire they give an option to allow the other person to drive so you can skip to your destination.

several times i almost clicked on "confirm buy", on psn+.
because it's quite cheap.
but i read a lot of reviews, and i'm not sure if i will enjoy the game. while i really liked heavy rain, l.a. noire make me feel like i'm gonna spend countless hours searching this, and that, always at the opposite place in the map, just to make the game last xx hours.
right now, there are so many great games i'm discovering and playing, like arkham city, it's not the best time to buy la noire. maybe one day, if there's nothing to play.

have anyone played it ? was it fun and interesting, to play ?

If want to be a Sherlock Holmes for a couple of hours, you can get some amusement from LA NOIRE.Its all in the details just like a good Sherlock movie.

One of the top 5 games of 2011. If you don't find Batman boring (which I do) then you'll definitely enjoy L.A. Noire.
