12 Most Anticipated Games of 2012

Trendy Gamers: 2011 was no doubt one of the best years in video gaming history with games like Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, Dark Souls and Portal 2 all launching. Well, with the year nearly over, it is time to look towards 2012 and see which games we can expect to play in 2012. This list of our twelve most anticipated games will compile the games we are looking forward to the most next year, but not necessarily the ones that will be the best.

The last of us and GTA V are at the top for me. Followed closely by Max payne 3 and Mass effect 3.
Halo 4 comes in at 5th with Starhawk at 6th.

That's my list, I will most likely buy FIFA 13 and the next COD. No matter how much I try and avoid it, I'll end up buying them. Just like FIFA 12 and MW3.

Edit# You know, the Last Guardian is in the mix aswell. Game looks unbelievable. Alot of money will be spent in 2012 :D

Ok, forgot Rainbow six patriots and Ghost recon future soldier. Too many games :(

Twisted Metal always gets overlooked on these types of lists. I don't see why. Not only is it my most anticipated game of 2012 by far, Twisted Metal is my most anticipated game of all time.

I've been waiting for this game for years and it's almost finally here. I'm a die-hard TM fan and from what I've seen of the new Twisted Metal, I think this might just be my new favorite game of all time.

xbox360 wise i am interested in halo 4, but since its a new studio i will take the wait and see approach, i still believe that halo 4 should be the launch title done on xbox720 on a engine built for xbox720. well it may still end up on xbox720 along with xbox360

but other than that MS has a lot of unknowns

I take that back. Witcher 2 is my most wanted game of 2012 and its looking amazing on xbox360 along with the fact it looked great on the pc

I dont really care about any of those games. I might try bioshock again but it doesnt look as good as the 1st 2 and the 2 wasnt as good as the 1st. Same goes for mass effect.

Only game I really looking forward to so far is Diablo 3

Also this article is incredibly inconsistent. The writer says GTA V is at 12 because there is no gameplay yet when the whole trailer is gameplay but somehow Halo 4 and many other games proceed it when all they have is a CGI teaser.

I think to many people have forgotten about Kingdoms of Amalur that game just looks freaking great.

1. Silent Hill: Downpour - survival-horror is not in its infancy right now, especially high/moderately budgeted survival-horror that's released full retail, so Downpour is giving me something that is really being neglected by the industry right now. This looks to me like a bigger-scaled, more ambitious Shattered Memories, and to me that is a tantalising prospect. Want so bad.

2. The Last Guardian - the troubled development history has me concerned, and no game should take 5/6 years to make. But Team ICO has always delivered (all two times!) and this'll sure live up to the hype (if it ever gets bloody released.)

3. Max Payne 3 - naysayers be damned - change can be a good thing, in the right hands. Sun, Brazil and a lack of hair are all superficial design choices: the noir and bullet ballet remain, and in the hands of Rockstar it'll be incredible.

4. Gravity Rush - the must have Vita title at launch. Any handheld title that looks this good must be witchcraft for sure.

5. Bioshock Infinite - didn't give two figs about Bioshock 2, which looked more of the same. This installment has the common sense to shake things up enormously in order to sustain interest. The complete overhaul of locale and a non-silent protagonist are the best things that could happen to the Bioshock franchise.

6. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the Witch Witch - Studio Ghibli meets the JRPG genre: a perfect marriage. Looks unspeakable gorgeous.

7. Journey - another promised 'experience' by thatgamecompany is too good not to mention. Flower was special - this will be better.

8. Mass Effect 3 - everyone's hyped for this, so I can't really contribute much more. Just show Tali's face. And bare ass.

9. SSX - all it needs to be is SSX Tricky/SSX 3 with a current-gen makeover. That's hard to screw up.

10. Captain Morgane And The Golden Turtle - old-school point 'n' click adventuring coming to consoles, written by the guy who penned the scripts for Broken Sword and Beneath a Steel Sky. Quietly confident it'll be great.

11. DmC - not a choice for the Devil May Cry elite, but I am not a member of the Devil May Cry elite. What I am however, is a supporter of Ninja Theory, and their reboot has me very interested.

12. The Last of Us - precious little information about the game, but the mere fact it's a survival-horror being developed by Naughty Dog makes this essential. Please come out next year.
