Sony's PlayStation Vita went on sale today in Japan to strong demand; there are reports that Sony sold-out all 700,000 units it set aside for the Japanese launch. ""I'm so happy to see so many people lining up for PS Vita so early in the morning," Sony Computer Entertainment Japan President Hiroshi Kono wrote in his official blog after touring several Tokyo stores. "I can tell they had anxiously waited for today's launch."
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki and CFO Lin Tao talked about the state of the PlayStation business and the strategy and targets going forward, including how they're responding to the tariffs.
Sony announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2024, and things are certainly looking up, despite a decline in PS5 sales.
If their profits fall next quarter, we'll probably see more price hikes. I can't imagine having to pay £20 a month for PlayStation Plus.
Decline in hardware sales.
Behind on lifetime sales and decline in first party sales.
Third party content and PSN came through to save the day.
Things will improve starting with the next Ghost game.
Hopefully a steady flow of first party content by end of '25
PlayStation 5 has shipped 77.8 million units worldwide, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2025.
very nice.
in almost 5 years too.
some big hitters are yet to come
Quit with these DOOOOOOMMMEEEDDDDD articles. The Vita is launching with an outstanding line up, better than the 3DS did or the first PSP or PS3 or 360. The interface trumps XBL, PSN, iPhone, Droid, DS, and more than 85% of tablets out there. The price on everything (minus those damn hdd flash cards) are great. The designed is awesome, the system is powerful as all hell. There are games for everyone and Sony will have stuff for casuals and hardcore.Everyone is treating this like a console too, cause its too amazing to pass off as a little pocket toy. So can we quit begging for hits with these types of articles please?
For the PS-Vita to fail.. the world would have to end.
Figures. Thousands of people line up for the VITA and someones finds someway to make it negative.'They will buy it today, but what about tomorrow?' Strange no one does this with anything else. If something else sells well at launch, its a success. The VITA looks like it will sell well at launch and its 'it might not sell well for long'
"Long-Term succes Questionable" my ASS!!!
why can't they say congrats on a great launch in japan and move on?....
