Right, the video wouldn't embed for some reason..

So im just posting it in the comments http://www.youtube.com/watc...

This is important guys, don't whine about technicalities.

Frankfurt4927d ago

SOPA is a good thing. Way too many websites using copyrighted videos, images without paying a dime for the creator. People work hard, then someone steals it and doesn't even give the creator credit.

MagicAccent4927d ago (Edited 4927d ago )

Sites like youtube and facebook could be shut down, hell even this site is at risk..

You think that is good?

john24926d ago

Like MagicAccent, even N4G could shut down. This is serious guys

@Frakfurt - How is this a good thing?

If this bill is passed sites like this and many other more are in danger of shutting down.

Its already bad that on you tube if you make a personal video and use a song, video or image from a popular artist that it gets taken down because of copy rights.

The fact that Sony and Nintendo is supporting this shows that Asian companies do not have the slightest idea on how the American market works.

Sure piracy is bad but you will never get rid of it and in the long run the people that they are really hurting is legit customers.

The 360 was hacked and still is but yet games like Halo and Gears sells millions.

The iPhone was hacked but yet Apple has the number 1 selling phone in the world.

"The fact that Sony and Nintendo is supporting this shows that Asian companies do not have the slightest idea on how the American market works."

... but EA, THQ, TakeTwo, Ubisoft and Epic are also supporting SOPA.

I don't think Nintendo/Sony are that naive to not know how the american market works. They know that passing SOPA gives them more control, and that's why they're supporting it.

"The fact that Sony and Nintendo is supporting this shows that Asian companies do not have the slightest idea on how the American market works"

You do realize this is made by an American politician and is supported by American based companies of both foreign and local origin right? I doubt it has anything to do of being an Asian company or not.

Land of the free....never mind we all know "democracy" is BS.

frostypants4926d ago (Edited 4926d ago )

This is why we have a Supreme Court. Hopefully this gets challenged and squashed. Congress doesn't have final say.

Spenok4926d ago

It seems unlikely that something like this would pass.

But its still terrifying.

I hope that if this does get passed (GOD FORBID) that the Supreme Court squashes it into a million pieces.

SilentNegotiator4925d ago

The supreme court is no longer trying to defend the constitution. They purposely misinterpret original intent to make things the way they want it.

It's important that it NEVER passes. Corporations already abuse their copyrights...look at Viacom. They claim all sorts of BS as copyright violations that aren't at all. If it passes congress, Obama would sign it, not a doubt in my mind. And it is unlikely that the Supreme Court will overturn it, and even if they do, it won't be before several people are imprisoned for idiotic reasons.

Wow, Changes my view on EA. If this goes through I will never purchase another EA product again.

Series_IIa4926d ago

What about Sony and Nintendo?

unknownhero11234926d ago

don't know about anyone else but I won't buy another product from any company that supports this bill if it passes. damn, that's a lot of companies. eh, i was thinking about skipping the next generation anyways.

upallnightgamer4926d ago

After Mass Effect 3. I'm getting that, regardless.

Disccordia4926d ago

Stupid comment. Youd never go through with it anyway.

NicSage4926d ago

Still haven't purchased another Activision product...

My view on Sony and everyone else will change as well.

I can see how they would want to stop piracy, but the problem is it will be abused.

Disccordia4925d ago

You're going to end up not buying any games at this rate!

mrmancs4926d ago

big brother strikes again.. fuck em and there laws.

upallnightgamer4926d ago

And if the NDAA passes, our friend here won't be able to express this sentiment without being called a terrorist. It's absolutely Orwellian, how much control the government wants in the name of "national security." We're well on our way to following China into communism.

frostypants4926d ago (Edited 4926d ago )

This isn't communism, it's more like fascism. Other direction on the political spectrum, but yeah, they feel pretty similar. Also, this is being pushed by private lobbyists.

Pintheshadows4926d ago

China hasn't been Communist for years. They are the very definition of capitalism at the moment. They have a strong economy, strong exports from manufactured goods and new commercial centres popping up everywhere. Not that their government would admit it.

wenaldy4926d ago

How about the jurisdiction outside US? Will this law still applicable?

redDevil874926d ago (Edited 4926d ago )

Well websites like youtube, facebook are american so it will affect you regardless of where you live.

Series_IIa4926d ago (Edited 4926d ago )

No

But it would mean, Flickr, Youtube, Facebook, Google, guitar tab websites, advertisers and anything which a user can upload any form of any copyrighted and indirect copyrighted material could be shut down in an instant and the owners held responsible and a felon.

upallnightgamer4926d ago

Even concerning small stuff where no harm is intended like fan videos on youtube over their favorite couple on a given tv show. Fanart and fanfiction will be shut down along with their respective sites like ff.net and deviantart.com because the artists don't have permission from the creators to use the subjects they have been using while giving due credit.

GrumpyVeteran4926d ago

Nah, they can only tell ISPs within the US to block access to the site, outside of the US you'll be fine.

This will be coming to Xbox.

Thank you for using the term "region" since that was always what happened. The amount of media that used the term country led to many misinformed people.

According to SteamDB Statistics:
"The use of the word "subdivisions" below refers to states, provinces, regions and other categories."

"Totals
As of december 2017, there are 250 countries, 4024 subdivisions and 45261 cities in Steam's location data."
