GSC Game World, the Ukraine based developer responsible for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series announced on December 9, 2011 that they are closing their doors for good.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is about to launch and we've noticed player counts for the original trilogy spiking in anticipation.
"For a game that came out on PC almost two decades ago, it looks great on Nintendo's console. Resolution is stable when docked and handheld, with motion smoothing that makes rapid camera movement fluid. Options are plentiful, with copious sliders for controller sensitivity. There’s only a gamma slider for visuals, though, and it would have been helpful to enlarge the tiny text, a strain to read on a large screen." - Ken Talbot | NintendoLife
GF365: "If you’re a reader, this list of great games for avid readers is for you. Games are a form of art, and some have written literature in them."
I still think this is a PR stunt!
Maybe I'm just a fanboy in denial but this series sold almost 5 million copies and is one of the greatest games ever made.
The open world, the Atmosphere, the detailed graphics, The A.I. were all ground breaking.
I just do not understand how GSC could close! I'm so confused right now!
I built a gaming PC just a few months back, and STALKER Call of Pripyat was the first game I bought for it. Fantastic, atmospheric open-world FPS. Perhaps the best single-player FPS I've played in years.
If the studio really is closing, then that's a true shame. I was really looking forward to their next title.
it's sad i have been waiting so long for the sequel :(
Firstly this is the 800th time this has been reported.
Secondly GSC have said no such thing. Some guy who people mistook for the CEO said something but that's about it. The official statement is they're doing their best, what that means, we don't know. But they've not closed their doors as far as we know.
