What We Know About ‘Command & Conquer: Generals 2′ So Far

The last Command & Conquer game sucked. It ended the series (for a while) and took away our interest with the franchise. That was until this February when Victory Games confirmed that a new Command & Conquer was coming but they oddly focused on the social aspect of gaming in the announcement. Fast forward to December 2011 and BioWare is teasing the announcement of a new game they’re working on, one which seemingly was going to be Command & Conquer: Alliances, but to be confirmed at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards last night.

We weren’t too far off as the show premiered the first teaser trailer for Command & Conquer: Generals 2, a game that we now have more details on.

That is will be developed by Bioware

I have a feeling EA is just going to re-brand most of their studios to bioware, just to ride the bioware train until it becomes synonymous with trash.

admiralthrawn874936d ago

thats already happening. i haven't respected bioware since Jade Empire.

Disccordia4936d ago

Stop trying to be cool. Dragon age origins and mass effect are great games and although I'm not an mmo guy it seems TOR is great too. Dragon Age 2 wasn't amazing but it's still better than 80% of games released.

EA is just gonna have all their games under the Bioware or DICE label from now on cause Gamers think so highly of these studios but only a few games have the original Bioware team making them.

I do not know if anyone from Westwood studios or EA Los Angeles is on the Bioware Victory Dev team. BV's manager is Jon Van Caneghem and he is from the Might and Magic series and has done ZERO with C&C from the info i have.

Actually NO ONE from Westwood studios works for EA.....They all quit after C&C Generals and went on to form Petroglyph Games so this is not looking to good so far for C&CGenrals2.

Westwood Studios Dev team members are like the Godfathers of RTS games.

Dune the Battle for Arrakis is one of my favorite games of all time along with the Tiberian Wars.

A. No, BioWare was made an EA label (similar to EA Sports, EA Partners, EA Maxis, etc) a while ago. DICE is not an EA label.
B. BioWare isn't making the game, Victory is. BioWare is the LABEL, Victory is the DEVELOPER.
C. No, the entire former Westwood and EA Pacific teams did not go to Petroglyph, although a good portion did.
D. You directly contradicted yourself in the second and third paragraphs. You don't know, but suddenly you know one paragraph later?

ATi_Elite4936d ago (Edited 4936d ago )

A. Bioware and DICE are both development studios who have the SAME parent company....Electronic Arts! EA owns both of them! No partner no co-op EA owns them Google it.

B. Read my entire post next time cause i specifically said "Bioware Victory" is the DEVELOPER! And like we said EA is tossing Bioware on everything for name recognition cause EA owns Victory! Google that to!

C. Westwood people left and formed Petroglyph and EA.LA people left and formed Danger Close. No one from either studio works for EA and the new game which is my point.

D. I double checked some information half way through my post and yeh i should of reworded it but anyway it's correct

ANYWAY the whole point of my post was that NO ONE From Westwood or EA L.A. is working on the New game.

That's like Valve Devs not making HL3 or Blizzard Devs not making Starcraft 3.

In a well established series like C&C i would expect someone there to work on it that had apart in the series so the game maintains a certain feel to it for the fans.

We will have to wait and see how it turns out.

JsonHenry4936d ago

It is being developed by Victory Games under the Bioware label. Don't believe me? Visit the website. It clearly says Victory Games.

Noticeably_FAT4936d ago

This was personally one of my favorite reveals, other then the Alan Wake one.

TheGrimReaper4936d ago (Edited 4936d ago )

o.O

Before VGA I heard the rumor about Command & Conquer: Alliances and didn't care. But Generals is my favorite C&C.
Nice one!

Btw: "Victory studio formed beginning of the year, became a part of BioWare in the summer – It’s not even the same BioWare who makes Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc. They just attached “BioWare” to this other EA studio."

Command & Conquer development to resume under new studio

Much to the dismay of anyone looking forward to the new Command & Conquer, the game was shelved by EA on 29 October but it looks like it's now being moved to a new studio and development will resume.

Make it like the previous ones not some kind of F2P crap..

LostPotato4229d ago

That is probably the plan as they stated a new studio would make the game now.

Anyway I agree that they should of stuck to the original plan before canning it, and making more F2P garbage.

ATiElite4229d ago

will it still be using the Frostbite 3

will it be good like Tiberium Wars?

I hope so!

DeadlyFire4229d ago

Frostbite 3 is a given. Since its still under EA I believe.

tanookisuit4229d ago

For me, I hope they bring back PROPER base-building!

Raf1k14229d ago

Same here. It's not C&C if it doesn't have proper base building.
