Not bad for Uncharted but given its dev value, I was hoping it would break a million

happyface4935d ago

didn't sony try to make it look like this game sold millions on the first day?

whoops

harrisk9544935d ago

It sold millions World Wide and shipped almost 4 million on its first day

... but, obviously in your limited worldview, NPD represents the whole world.

evilunklebud4935d ago

NDP is not the world..... Blah blah blah.

Who gives a crap anyway?

JokesOnYou4935d ago (Edited 4935d ago )

yeah, I thought UC3 would of done better given the great press from UC2, still any improvement on UC2 sales is a success for UC3.

MW3 is a beast, 9 mil in the US alone in 1 month, daaayum!...thats 3 or 4 times the lifetime WW sales of some other notable games. lol, I remember not too long ago there were quite a few here who swore BF3 would actually sell better, no really, not all but a vocal minority were making such claims and then....reality.

AC3 sales are surprising, I didn't expect it would do that well considering the heavy competition as of late....never the less well deserved. I'll pick it up myself soon.

In this thread there was a bunch of question about sony's statement on UC3 sales
http://n4g.com/news/884340/...

Now for all those who were saying there's no difference between shipped and sold you are totally wrong and this is a big example why, because any company can flood the retail channel up front and say hey we "sold" this many copies but the question is how many are on store shelves, vgchartzs gives a rough estimate of consumers sales, and npd gives a more reliable figure of sold to consumer sales that is much more important and reliable than shipped to retailer #'s because sold to consumer dictates actual demand for that product, while shipped only projects expectations which may or may not be met, no doubt retailers will take 3.8 mil up front because even if the initial sales expectations are not met up front the game will no doubt at least reach its predecessors lifetime sales in the future if nothing else because the install base is larger. Also 3.8mil sold to consumers in 1 day or hell even 1 month, definitely means it will sell many more millions over its lifetime and at full price vs 1mil sold at full price, then price drops for the other 2+mil to get them off store shelves, which is important to devs. Now looking at these sales figures puts sony's initial statement in perspective because historically the US usually accounts for about half of WW software sales alone and given that UC3 only sold 700k in the US for its entire 1st month vs the 3.8mil worldwide sony said sold in just 1 day were sold, there is no doubt those figures were more PR fluff and nowhere close to actual consumer sales, which is important for the reason I mentioned above.

IRetrouk4934d ago

kinda see what youre saying but at the same time the ww shiped numbers are probably true, oh but the part about americans sale being half of ww numbers is flat out wrong, do some digging, check gt5s numbers.

SDF Repellent4934d ago (Edited 4934d ago )

I really hate to be the one that say "I told you so, Uncharted did not sell 3.8 millions in one day!!" but...wait?, Oh, I was the one that said" I told you so!" http://n4g.com/news/884340/...

jetlian4934d ago (Edited 4934d ago )

for shooters and uncharted as a whole half is about right for usa. GT5 is a racing game which most americans could care less about

To ND credit they were trying to make their mark. Activision claimed 9 million day 1 didn't happen, EA claimed 10 million week one. didn't happen. Bethesda claimed 7 million it too didn't happen.

Most were going for bragging rights and to prove their worth

4Sh0w4934d ago (Edited 4934d ago )

There are exceptions to every rule, racing and soccer traditionally do better outside the US, jrpg's and eccentic games do well in Japan the rest including UC majority of sales come from US.

EVILDEAD3604934d ago (Edited 4934d ago )

Uncharted 3 actually did good..

The problem is Sony had the bright idea of releasing their star franchise in the middle of the game they thought would push PS3s (BF3) and the true #1 selling franchise on the PS3 (COW:MW3)

If I was Sony I would have released UC3 in early October and dominated the PS3 dollars. But, I said the same thing last year when they missed the opportunity to give Little Big Planet 2 holiday dollars as well.

I always shake my head at the people at Sony who schedule the PS3 game releases.

Salutes Skyrim's position on the charts..

It'll be interesting to see what Zelda ends up with in December

Either way..alot of games had a great holiday..December is upon us..

@happy

They said ww shipped you low life troll

U3 did great, November has the bigger and best seller games of the year, COD, Skyrim, AssCreed (which keeps growing sales wise), BF3 which holds up great against COD and Batman:AC that keeps up there with the big ones and deserves it

You do realize that shipped vs sold doesn't mean a bit of a difference to the publisher / manufacturer of the product, don't you? I'm going to wager a guess the answer to my question is no.

Once the distributor "purchases" the product from the publisher or manufacturer it is considered sold by the publishers / manufacturer. In other words they already made their bank.

Products are not given to retailers and etailers on consignment. They pay the publishers / manufacturers and distributors for said product.

Also nobody is flooding anyone with anything. These publishers and manufacturers know what the probable demand is for their products. Just like the distributors and retailers are not going to blindly purchase products not having a clue as to whether or not they will be able to move them.

When are those that argue over sales numbers going to understand this? I will never understand the logic, or lack there of, when it comes to the numbers game. Who gives a shit what a game sells as long as the games we enjoy make enough money to warrant further support and probable sequels for said games?

The most boring part of E3 and other gaming shows is when they talk numbers. Save that for your share holder meetings and just bring on the games.

mw3 is a beast again what else is new wait until ww figures come in and you will see that all the games did great especially if we go by these numbers

IRetrouk,

So what you're saying is that it takes the rest of the world combined to match America in the gaming world?

Now that you've made that clear I can care even less what someone in Europe thinks about NPD numbers. It's funny how it's people like you who complain about this every freaking month, yet no one here in the states seems to care.

@LX,

You're exactly right. That's what it boils down to.

AmaZinG4935d ago

Uc3 sold 1.2M 1st week and probably close to 2M WW in November...

Good sales.

awi59514935d ago (Edited 4935d ago )

1.7 million 360's sold in the US in November thats crazy.

How is xbox selling so much without a price cut the price is never going to go down like this. How much money is Microsoft making each 360 sold now?

ZippyZapper4935d ago

I know that's just the US with Christmas is coming up.

Biggest4934d ago

Don't really need to cut price when you're already cheaper than the competition.

Silly gameAr4934d ago (Edited 4934d ago )

Wasn't the 199 dollar models busted down to 149, plus like $50 gift cards or something. Plus free XBL cards, I'm sure selling those wasn't to hard to do.

Uncharted Cast Doesn’t Take the Games’ Success For Granted at MCM Comic-Con

During MCM Comic Con London X EGX, CGM got the chance to be part of a press group interview with the stars of the Uncharted titles, namely the legendary Nolan North, who played protagonist Nathan Drake, Emily Rose, who portrayed Elena Fisher and Richard McGonagle, who took on the role of Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan,

Modern Warfare 3 flooded with cheaters after arrival on Xbox Game Pass

Players are using hacks to gain an advantage in the game, such as aimbots and wall hacks. The first gives a player superhuman aiming abilities, while a wall hack lets you see through walls to gauge where other players are.

“These hacks are typically used by PC players, but those playing on PC via Xbox Game Pass are identified as Xbox players in multiplayer lobbies.”

This is pretty dumb to say the least.

Cacabunga317d ago

All about them headshots for Xbox

badz149317d ago

Gotta pump those numbers up

blackblades317d ago

That's a WTF, they suppose to be labeled as pc users even if its on PC game pass. They mess that up big time.

XiNatsuDragnel317d ago

Oh bad this will be entertaining to watch

ZycoFox317d ago

If AI keeps getting better (and it will) it's just a matter of time before there's more sophisticated cheats even for consoles, and they wouldn't even need to be running on it, I have little doubt about that.

lelo2play317d ago

Don't Gamepass online games have anti-cheat systems?
If not, that's pretty dumb. Microsoft need to fix that asap.

Rynxie317d ago (Edited 317d ago )

They won't ever fix this problem, unless they (developers, publishers, Sony and MS) go after the cheat providers directly. You no longer need to hack consoles to use hacks. During the ps360 days, they were going after cheat devices, but it was a cat and mouse game. These cheating methods were around during those days, it's nothing new, but they kept it under control. Since the PS4/Xbox one generation, they stopped going after these cheating devices and it became widespread. Which I find odd, since they started charging for online play (PS4).

StormSnooper317d ago (Edited 317d ago )

Possibly, this is because the companies were going after cheats because the same cheats were being used to pirate the games, whereas today, the companies use online verification to prevent piracy, thus eliminating the need to go after people who cheat only to gain an advantage in the game. As long as the cheater remains below the radar, and does not completely break the game, the companies look the other way as their wallets are not threatened by it. (that is my completely Uneducated opinion on the matter)

pwnmaster3000317d ago

I mean, COD games was always filled with hackers, nothing new. I can’t blame MS on this. Activision had years to try and fix this. Might take MS some time to make some change.

Rude-ro317d ago

It all depends…
Microsoft’s guidance on how to handle gamepass on pc and their love to force crossplay with pc seems like a them issue.
And they own activision, so it is still a them issue.

StormSnooper317d ago

lol well that sucks.

Is there a reason this happened upon arrival on xbox?
