Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Passes 10 Million Sold - Report

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 once again set an entertainment record with 6.5 million units sold in its first 24 hours and $775 million generated in the first five days. Since the game's first day sales, we haven't gotten an official unit sales update from Activision, but we may have been given an idea by Activision's rival EA. Peter Moore, EA COO, was talking about how he still believes that Battlefield 3 managed to take share from Call of Duty, and he noted 10 million sold for Modern Warfare 3.

Seems about right. It's probably even beyond that now. I'm guessing MW3 will finish close to 20 million this year.

MW3 will probably end up with 20 million like you said. Maybe Title Fight can compete? But then again it's only on one console and fps > fighters in terms of sales.

Next year it switches back to Black Ops dev Treyarch. But yeah that game should post huge numbers too, unless gamers finally get sick of Call of Duty. That's always the danger with annual releases.

Even if half of them said "enough is enough" and simply left, it would still be a financial success. Basically, if slashed in half, those are still crazy numbers.

Im not surprised because Activision has a huge fanbase that will buy any of their call of duty games without thinking twice.

I got bored of it a long time ago but I have very fond memories if my very first COD.

EA knew that MW3 was going to sell. IMO BF3 is the better game. MW3 is not a good game. I could put in MW1 and you couldn't tell the difference.

Great sales for a great game! Modern Warfare 3 has turned out to be my favorite in the franchise. Kind of sad to see what happened to Soap and some of my favorites in the campaign.
