WWE '12 review [BeefJack]

BeefJack: "Fans of WWE may be happy enough with this year’s instalment, but only because they’ve got nowhere else to turn to for their realistic video game wrestling needs. Competition in the genre certainly wouldn’t be bad for THQ’s franchise, as it needs to be awoken from its current slumber, where more emphasis is lazily placed on creating rather than actually wrestling. No matter how good that creation aspect is – and it is very good – it just doesn’t justify a lack of decent action in the ring itself."

All they need to do is stick with the graphics they have now created and go back to the same style of gameplay from Smackdown Here Comes the Pain.....These developers need to learn to stop the drastic changes they make to games that are successful when the fanbase (consumers) speak out against the changes. If it sells more titles in the past than it does in the present than perhaps you should go back to the roots of what worked rather than changing, just to change. (SOCOM 4 I am looking in your direction Zipper.)

Are Wrestling Games Getting Worse?

Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.

Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.

I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.

Anyone remember Giant Gram Wrestling on the Dreamcast .....

Rambokind1710d ago

Ah hell yes! That was loads of fun.

Fire Pro just gets better. Buy it.

I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games

Golden Era of wrestling games in the Golden Era of wrestling. I've been contemplating going back and getting a N64 and getting those classic's
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
WWF No Mercy
WCW vs. nWo Revenge

Yeah its the only wrestling games I still play consistently for fun.

TheTony3161710d ago

Yes. The last great wrestling game was svr 2006.

addictedtochaos1710d ago

Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.

6 Abominations Brought to Life by These Games' Character Creators

If Dr Frankenstein were alive today and also not fictional, he wouldn't need to faff around building a creature out of dead bodies then trudge around the Arctic trying to kill it - not when these videogame character creators exist. Just look at the unnatural horrors he could have cooked up in WWE '12, Spore, Saints Row 4, Soul Calibur 5, NBA 2K15 and The Sims 4.

Good comparison, they've got worse with age.

Many of the old animations look better than the new ones especially the Sweet Chin Music and Goldberg's spear. The 2K14 Clothesline from Hell looks awesome though.
