Sony: 'If you care about games, you'll want a Vita'

Sony is confident that the forthcoming PS Vita will win the hearts of core gamers, stating: "If you care about games, you're going to want a Vita."

At last week's Develop in Liverpool conference, VideoGamer.com spoke to Michael Denny, senior vice president, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Europe, to discuss his hopes for the new handheld.

"Our mission, our vision, is that we now have a portable gaming system that is going to be massively appealing to gamers – initially core gamers, but then a wider sense of gamers going forward," he said.

Oh I want this system bad. It's really the most impressive piece of technology I have seen in ages.

JoeReno2983d ago

Me too. I care about games, maybe to a fault. I certainly want a Vita.

Thatguy-3102983d ago

Reason why I'm buying it!!! Won't ever prefer a smartphone or tablet over it..

remanutd552983d ago

i want youtube app , google + app on the vita .

I owned several systems but I can honestly say, I have never been so excited as for the forthcoming PSVITA .Games like Gravity Rush, Uncharted and LBP will bring a new gaming experience and that appeals to me.

Ah. The old, "If A, then B" logic.

No, Sony.

I don't care to dedicate my every waking moment to games.

Go fix your television division if you need the money so badly.

It's hard to argue with Sony on this one, though trolls like yourself certainly will try.

Be it the specs, the features, or the games themselves, the Vita is a system anyone who cares about games should have. The launch lineup is great, the upcoming games are great. What you can do with the Vita outside of gaming is great. What you can do with the Vita INSIDE gaming is great. What is it you don't like about it?

... well, except the fact that it's a Sony product, obviously.

I care about games, so despite my gripes with Microsoft, I want a 360. Because there are games on that system that I can't play anywhere else. The same goes for the Wii: I'm not a big fan of motion controls, but there are titles on that system that I can only play on the Wii. As a gamer who loves games, I want them all.

As intelligent as you try to pass yourself off as, you make some ignorant comments. "I don't care to dedicate my every waking moment to games." You make it sound as if Sony is asking you to do this, that they're saying you have no choice.

How asinine.

They're saying that there will be gaming experiences on the Vita you won't be able to get anywhere else. And if you're someone who cares about games(i.e. a GAMER, not a casual or a fanboy), then you will want to have access to those gaming experiences. Obviously, the only way to have such access is to be in possession of a Vita.

You are embarrassing yourself. Please delete your wall of fanboy text and update your comment.

I just mentioned how quickly fanboys are pulled in by this kind of marketing, and you showed up to defend it.

I don't have to buy a PS VITA just because I care about games. Nor do I care a single damn about the technical specifications. Though if you want to bring that up, the VITA is going to be outdated at launch.

"If A, then B" is a modus ponens claim. Sony is saying that if I don't buy the VITA, I don't really care about games.

Perhaps I don't care about purchasing the portable version of PS3 games that I already own. Perhaps I think it is a waste of money to buy a mini version of a console I already own just so I can play Tekken for fifteen minutes while I wait for class to start.

I care about games, but I don't care about the VITA. Sony's marketing is bullshit, and Hicken, you only have two bubbles left. Thinking of any new usernames for your next account?

Sony: 'If you care about games, you'll want a Vita'

What if I dont want a Vita? I dont care about games?!

Havent bought a handheld since the original Gameboy does this mean I dont care about my 360 or PS3*?

I was gonna say the same thing. it's typical corporate sales tactics to confound stupid people and trick them in to buying a Vita, no insult intended towards competent gamers who will buy a Vita because it looks to be a great handheld with great games (I'll no doubt be joining you soon enough) but I just cant stand sheeple.

smashcrashbash2983d ago (Edited 2983d ago )

No, if you like games you will most likely want a VITA. Not if you don't want the VITA it means don't care about games. Of I say if you like toast you will want to buy this toaster. Does that automatically mean that if you don't buy it you don't like toast? If I say if you like hamburgers you will want to taste this one, that means that if you don't want to taste it you don't like hamburgers any more?

Its not an order, its a statement saying that it is a gaming machine and gamers should like it. Is it really that hard to understand or are you just trying to be difficult? When Microsoft says 'everyone will want Kinect' does that that everyone will automatically want one and you will be an outcast if you don't buy one? No.

kaveti66162983d ago (Edited 2983d ago )

It's an "if A, then B" statement.

So, yes, Sony is basically saying that if you don't get a PS Vita, you don't care about games.

A = Care about games.

B = You want PS VITA

If A, then B. If not B, then not A.

Sony is making a false statement. It's a cheap marketing tactic.

The reason why it's bothersome is not because Sony said it. It's because I've seen PS3 fanboys on this site use the statement.

"If you're a gamer, then you have a PS3."

It means that if you don't have a PS3, you're not a gamer. The marketing tactics are adopted by the fanboys, who are too stupid to figure it out.
