GamePron: Iranian gamers hoping to get their hands on Battlefield 3 will be sorely disappointed, as the country has officially banned EA‘s latest shooter.
they will just pirate the game anyways
They dont need to play BF3... they live it.
there is different between Iran and Iraq :)
Yep a "Q". Lol.
lmao That was a good one.
Agree. Well placed funnies. Lol. inb4ysosrs.
According to http://www.gamespot.com/new... it was never supposed to be sold in Iran in the first place. Some people were selling pirated copies. What is banned are those pirated copies. If someone moves to Iran with Battlefield 3, I think they should be fine.
Who in their right mind would move TO Iran? I mean, other than a nuclear scientist of course ;)
If you try to sell it, they will cut your hands lol
tehran, iran (google images) http://www.google.com/searc... Hopefully they don't ban Counterstrike GO as well, then I would really feel for them.
"we believe the game is purposely released at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran." lolwut?
You may want to pay attention to the news lately, maybe then you'll get it.
I think what is meant is, DICE is Swede, the US didn't push it at all.
I figured the point of the game was for fun.
a place where women are treated like trash there is a game that has been banned, consider me surprised
you know guys, living in meddle east is much safer than USA, I've been to both places.
as a terrorist I'm sure I would feel pretty safe their but as an American who has rights like free speech and freedom of expression I'm sure you would be killed pretty quickly depending on which country you are in e.g. not Turkey @clearelite notice I said certain countries like not Turkey, there are other examples too but in general the middle east isn't safer than America
*PEPPER SPRAY ON YOUR EYES* Hows that for freedom of speech and rights?
You really don't understand how controlling your government is do you? Free speech? freedom of expression? Not in the USA my friend. Though sure, loads of countries in the middle east - and elsewhere in the world - are in a worse situation. But the USA is behind all other first world countries when it comes to the liberty of its people. (every American - or whatever the demonym is - will disagree, lol)
I love how you just exercised your free expression and speech Bozebo. Now take your butt to Saudi Arabia and make a comment about the royal family on a open forum such as this and see how wonderful life will be.
As a terrorist? Do you know what a Terrorist is? the criminals in the US who rape and murder are terrorists. Im happy I can go where ever I want in my country at any time of the day can you say the same? I bet not because if you walk down the wrong alley you just might get raped or killed. Safer? yeah whatever. When a murder is commited in my country everyone hears about and gets shocked for you its just a daily routine kind of thing...
I have to agree here the usa is no safer than any other country. I live in the uk and we are one country tha do not carry guns yet parts of the uk are not safe and even some of the safe parts you need to be careful in. Every cou try is like this every country has crime muders mugging rape ect as unfortunately it is a part of life and in a way we are still just like any other living thing on earth we kill in one way or another. As for the game being banded over there i dont know what the middle east countrys and places like Russia ect think of these games as they are always seen as the bad guys and the usa is always seen as being the heroes but then again this is what the usa thunks it is look at ww2 for example brittish troops dont glot about the war it was just a part of there life but this is all the usa glots about yet its funny that they have not been in that many and lost quite a few too.
Wow Major, you're in need of some serious education. Yeah only terrorists are safe in countries like Iran....wow. To all Americans, its people like Major that give you a bad name. Bereft of any knowledge, understanding or even logic, specimen like him, a minority even, are the ones that catalyse the ignorance that pervades society today.
I gave you an agree "GamersRulz" but it depends on which part of the mid east or usa you are talking about. MAJ0R I have to disagree for various reasons.
@GamersRulz You have to be more specific. Where in the USA have you been and where in the Middle East have you been? The USA is almost larger in area than the entire Middle East combined and has a variety of areas that range in terms of safety and prosperity. The Middle East has some places that are safer than others too, as tourism is important in many areas, but I believe some parts of the Middle East are entirely off limits to certain kinds of people, like Mecca and Medina.
Yeah guys, Iran doesn't have effed-up morals....they just have a government that publicly hangs homosexuals and anyone that speaks out against the government....and no, that's not on CNN either.
Beheadings, beatings, etc. for not believing in a so called religion of "peace" is safer than living in the USA or any other Western culture for that matter? Western society may have it's own bad shit going on, but at least we aren't as barbaric on that level for not believing a religion that has promoted killing the non-believers. I've met plenty of Middle-Eastern people here in the USA. They're very nice people, but they left their countries for good reasons and it's shit they are doing in the Middle East that's the cause. You also gotta love how bozebo talks about our country not giving liberty to it's people. Guess what bozebo, we actually have a right to own guns. That's all the liberty we need to take out governments that run your country.
"Western society may have it's own bad shit going on, but at least we aren't as barbaric on that level for not believing a religion that has promoted killing the non-believers." We're at the point where somehow religion influences politics, so it's not too far off from religion being a factor.
I definitely agree with you on that radphil because it is frustrating to see religious nut cases use their faith as a governing tool, but luckily, here in Western society, it hasn't gotten to the point where we take blunt knives and smite the infidels at their necks and shouting Allahu Akbar every 2 seconds killing people because of a different faith, nationality and what tribe they belong to. We definitely have people that act intolerant about these things here with hate crimes committed here and there, but the majority of the Middle East love seeing foreigners beheaded, all in the name of their God.
where is this meddle east and why is it so safe?
I know a guy from Iraq and he knows a shitload more about the American government than most Americans do. As an American, I was surprised that what I saw on TV and heard about didn't translate to the guy in front of me. It's amazing what you can learn by just talking to someone that doesn't live in the same place as you.
So is the freedom of a human being. But thats a whole nother issue. Hell im surprised they actually have modern electronics that can reach the tainted west.
Its jus a game but both sides of this argument can be understood but jokes like "Livid27" aren't funny in anyway. There was no need for that.
On the topic of the game being banned in Iran: This was really, very much expected. On the topic of America-hating: What the hell? Look, no country should be judged by the crimes of individual people, but rather the government and beliefs of the country. "Well, some dude killed his family and was a psycho. Guess that's what you get for being an American! hurrdurr" What some mentally messed-up people do as an individual should stay based on the individual, not based in the country that housed him as that point in time. Americans, believe it or not, are (semi)smart people. It's a bit ridiculous that everyone sees Americans as "Well, they're American. They must be friggin' 'tarded. hurrdrr". I assure you, there are intelligent people in this country (I consider myself to be one of them) that DO know things, that DO research for more information on myriad topics. The stupidity of a lot of people here isn't an American thing, it's a "Humanity is friggin' failing" thing. And, yes, I did put down two topics in the topic of America-hating. Whatevs. Anyway, I'm done with my partial saving of what I can salvage of good America. Continue to bash our government, though. I agree with the "America's government is totally retarded right now" statements. We can't get anything done with constant bickering. Well, I'm finally done.
40% of americans believe the earth is only 6000 years old. those same people don't believe in evolution even though it has been proven. americans believe what they are told to believe by the media. they do not think for themselves. the media is controlled by the corporations who also control the government. if americans were smart they would fix their own country first by removing the BS privately owned federal reserve bank and giving the country back to the people. you guys have absolutely no idea about your own country yet you bag others because your media tells you they are the bad guys. your government brainwashes your soldiers into hating the enemy and they don't even know what they are fighting for. they actually think they are knights in shining armour saving the world. as far as free speech... tell that to the occupy wall street protestors. there is no free speech, it is another illusion ingrained in the american people.
"40% of americans believe the earth is only 6000 years old" Now come on that is a bit harsh :P Probably more like 10%... which is still alarmingly high. The thing I find funny is that the country was founded on a basis of many things, including religious freedom - and then they instil Christianity as the default religion :S It's even the country's motto and is engraved in American culture including the national anthem (which was adapted from a british song btw - the American controlling government added the bit about 'god'). Obama even had to become Christian to furthur his political career otherwise he would have essentially been blacklisted and wouldn't have been able to get to the position he is at today to fix some of the wrongdoings of his predecessors. Also, I think there is a state where christian fundamentalism is taught in schools as an "alternative belief" to darwinism... darwinism is not a belief lol, and why should religion have anything to do with the education system anyway? But that was allowed to happen because of freedom of speech... a certain number of crazies managed to pass a bill that was clearly insane because the opposition didn't even know it was happening. (somebody has to notice and kick up enough fuss to get something done about it before it is passed as law) Anyway all that aside. There is free speech, people can say or do what they want to make a point - but the government ignores them if it conflicts with their personal financial agreements. Sounds almost like Russia and China to me in terms of forced patriotism and propaganda, but in a different way.
Im an American + bubs gcolley Best post on N4G Ive ever seen.
Actually, gcolley, as a Christian, I also believe that the earth is only 6000 years old. Why? Because no matter how much people insist that the Big Bang Theory has been proven, NO ONE can ever tell me where that little ball stuffed with energy and mass came from. It had to get there somehow. So, until someone can tell me where that came from, I'm believing what I'm believing. As for the "Default religion is Christianity!" crap, that's becoming less and less true by the day. School now say that the Big Bang Theory is the definitive way the world was created (still not telling me where it came from), never even mentioning any of the world's religions other than the bash them all. Obama can say what he wants, he isn't a Christian (or at least a proper Christian with all the 'white people of today OWE you for what their ancestors did years ago!' philosophy, among others). As for the Occupy Wall Street protesters, I don't even know what the hell they're protesting. What is it, "They made a business and got rich off of it with hard work and dedication! THOSE GREEDY BASTARDS! PAY MORE! PAY MORE!"? If so, then not a single one of them would be saying the same thing if one of them strikes it rich with the lotto or something. And no, boze, there's no "forced patriotism" coming from our government. They're telling us all that Americans are the most evil people on Earth, that the middle-class white Christian should be banned because it doesn't suit their agenda. That's what the country with the proud founding has been reduced to. The same as all others countries in the world: A whole bunch of politicians wanting nothing more than limitless power to suit their own agenda and create a socialist or communist dystopia (utopia for them) that puts them in control and kills the freedoms of the individual. Oh, they'll TELL you that you have freedoms, but such things are becoming extinct from the world. It's only to fuel you, thinking you can do what you want. Anyway, the only difference between here and other countries now is a strong military force (with pimpz-tech). *sigh*
^You're a Christian, but your name on N4G is "mynameisEvil"?
As for that ball of energy, one theory is that it came from this universe's implosion. Well, not this universe as we know it, but it's predecessor. Science has shown that while the universe is expanding, it is doing so at an ever decreasing rate; eventually, the expanding will cease, will become contracting, and ultimately wind up in a singularity so dense that when it collapses on itself it will give birth to a new universe. Granted, this can't quite be proven, but it's a theory, and seems to make a great deal of sense. As much as, say, an omnipotent being we cannot interact with using our senses who created everything, then pretty much vanished except a few burning bushes, angels of vengeance, and pillars of salt and/or fire. Don't get me wrong, either. I believe a higher power exists out there, myself. But what you're saying is mind-numbingly hypocritical: "You can't tell me where the energy that started the universe came from, so I won't believe you. Instead, I'll believe in my deity, even though no one can tell me where He came from." We are, all of us, ignorant in one way or another. The most you know about your God is "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth." (Quoted directly from the Bible on my bookshelf.) You don't know where He came from, or what was there before the beginning- after all, if God was there before the beginning, then SOMETHING was there, even if it was only Him- or why He decided to create the Heavens and the Earth, or whether that refers specifically to our world or the universe at large. The Big Bang Theory is just that, a theory. It is based upon our world and universe as we know it, and suggests things that may have happened, based on what we already know. Evolution, at the very least on a small scale, can be seen daily as creatures with certain traits flourish, while those of the same species that lack certain traits die out. Evolution, then, can be counted as a fact, since we are able to document its existence as a force on this planet. I won't get into politics with you. That's a can of worms I don't think it'd be wise to open.
Just rename it to "The Sims" and sell it. /sarcasm
Just an amazing amount of stupidity int this thread. mynameisEvil probably said it best: it's ignorant to judge an entire people based on the widely publicized actions of a few. "60% of Americans" my ass. I wager you're basing that on the premise that 60% of Americans are Christian, and that there is a group among them that believes what you say they do. I'll say two things about that: First, if you look at it from an "inside" point of view- that is, from within the faith that believes that way- then it makes perfect sense: an omnipotent god is more than capable of creating a 6000 year-old planet that has all the indications of being thousands of times older. Logically speaking, the capabilities of such a being defy logic. Second, the individuals that actually DO believe this are a small percentage of the percentage that follows some form of the Christian faith or another. I'm not 100% certain, but I feel pretty sure Catholics don't subscribe to this view. On topic, I think it's pretty fucked up that they can't play this game. Despite understanding some of the complaints Iranians may have with the game, I don't quite understand how it's any different from games in which Korea, Russia, Germany, or any other nation is the antagonist. Yes, there IS a shortage of games (pretty much none, as far as I know) in which the USA is the primary aggressor. But there is also, to my knowledge, NO instance in which the US took part in an armed conflict against another nation while the rest of the world disapproved. I will concede we have taken part in unpopular military action- be that popularity here at home or abroad- but I can't recall any situation in which we ENTERED the conflict with that opinion voiced by the majority.
They should learn something from Russia. Every second game they are the bad guys and still they don't flinch :D Hats off, Russians xD
I think Iran will bomb the shit out of USA in 2012. Just my 2 cents.
Why? That would be suicidal. Iran is desperately tryig to obtain at least ONE nuclear weapon, the US only has a few thousand Nukes :) Like it or not: Whoever foolishly decides to attack/bomb the US will have their asses handed to them by our military, and even most likely our allies. @Organization, I believe Israel is the country the Iran promised to "wipe off of the map".
