Wow, official numbers for November are gonna be huge!

TheMrMadzen2975d ago

Yeah, this is awesome......wait......WTH IS WRONG WITH YOUR AVATAR PIC!?

buddymagoo2975d ago

Even more impressive knowing that it is the highest priced console.

gaffyh2975d ago

It's mainly because the console was finally at an affordable price, and had a good deal on top of that. $199 is when consoles sell well, and even in the UK, the top trending searches were for "PS3 slim" over the week. So it will be interesting to see the numbers, but I still think Xbox will sell more in North America due to Walmart sales.

ApplEaglElephant2975d ago

MS and spending tons on marketing and 50 bucks cheaper.

PS3 is still beating them even though they are more expensive and has less marketing. It is quite impressive.

Skip_Bayless2974d ago

Everything on the list is old and obsolete. Yes including the PS3 and Xbox. The Wii is last generation! Technology sure is boring when I already own everything.

jony_dols2974d ago

Good to see the console is getting the recognition it deserves Statestate

Funnily enough on Amazon 360 4gb was #1 spot while PS3 was #3. Regardless will be interesting to see the numbers.

Jobesy2975d ago

Funnily? Is that even a word?

OT, PS3 was #1, and quickly sold out of stock.

gamingdroid2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

That is because the more you sell the more you loose. The PS3 is probably sold at a loss below $200.

Dropping the price stimulates demand, but you can only drop the price so much....

Either way, after the spike natural balance is restored. Xbox 360 Kinect bundle is back on top of all consoles at amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/best-...

Well, except it got bumped down by the Xbox 360 S 250GB Holiday bundled.

256bit2975d ago

funnily amazon is only 1 retailer.

Biggest2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

What was funny was the Amazon sale. It didn't go live when it was supposed to and people were going absolutely bananas about it.

"OMG I BEN HERE 4 ALL NITE HOW COME IT AINT UP!!!"

@gamingdroid

"That is because the more you sell the more you loose. The PS3 is probably sold at a loss below $200"

And that's what Black Friday is. Black Friday is about selling your inventory at all costs, with the intent of getting "IN THE BLACK". They often sell it for less than they paid.

And even if they aren't in need to get in the black, they need to price to get more customers than other retailers. Black Friday sees a MASSIVE amount of money exchanged, and retailers want in.

There were some real good deals on 360s, too....what do you think retailers profit margin on a 360 is? Because I'm sure $150 4G and $300 160GB (I think it was 160..) models with multiple games and LIVE time were not exactly sold above their worth.

And come on..."Amazon", "NPD"....these are results that make YOU feel better, not show anything conclusive. Who do you think you're fooling? The real conclusive results will come from the next official statements on hardware sales totals. IT won't give us exact Black Friday numbers, but it will certainly clue us in.

gamingdroid2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

***And that's what Black Friday is. Black Friday is about selling your inventory at all costs, with the intent of getting "IN THE BLACK". They often sell it for less than they paid.***

These retailers generally base their prices on what the manufacturer prices their items to retailers. So it isn't a free for all. Otherwise, why not just give them away at even a lower price?

***And come on..."Amazon", "NPD"....these are results that make YOU feel better, not show anything conclusive. Who do you think you're fooling?***

I'm not fooling anyone, as I posted facts.

***The real conclusive results will come from the next official statements on hardware sales totals.***

No more than the NPD numbers. Why? Because "total hardware sales" masks weaknesses in certain territories.

For console sales, you want strength in well defined regions, not scattered around. That's why NPD, GFK Chart-Track and etc is important.

It's sales analysis 101....

SilentNegotiator2974d ago (Edited 2974d ago )

"For console sales, you want strength in well defined regions, not scattered around"
=
That's a convenient load when the ps3 has been outselling the 360 worldwide BECAUSE of its scattered regions. Japan, non-UK EU, other small regions....they're all the reason why year after year, the ps3 outpaces the 360.

"No more than the NPD numbers. Why? Because "total hardware sales" masks weaknesses in certain territories"
=
NPD doesn't even include half of all retailer activity in the limited region that it does track. "Weaknesses" in territories doesn't mean much if in all regions total, a system is still doing better.

One online store is not the entire country people.

gamingdroid2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

The real conclusive numbers will be out in two weeks from NPD.

kneon2975d ago

The real conclusive numbers will be out in about 3 months when we see the Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony financial reports. Even NDP is just a guess as they can't track every store.

jwatt2975d ago

When I checked every from Amazon to my black Friday app the 360 was the most popular item but when I was in the purchasing line at Best buy I was surprised at the amount of people with a ps3.

Bigpappy2975d ago

This should be a rumor at worst, and misleading at best.

This only tracks so online trends and has never before been used a credible indicator.

The title suggest that the PS3 160 Gig was the number one item bought by shoppers in the US. This is not inclusive enough to reach that conclusion. Those numbers will be release very soon. If it turns out to be true, that would be a good indicator that PS3 will sell very well for the rest on the year.

kneon2975d ago

Pricegrabber doesn't sell anything so it's not even an indication of sales, just of interest in a product. Interest in a product does not necessarily translate to a purchase of the product.

Shackdaddy8362975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

It's funny how you got 28 disagrees.

This article is false people. Next time, read the source. PS3 was on the top of the list for most VIEWED on MOBILE for that website. Here are the most popular products from the actual report ( http://www.prnewswire.com/n... ):

Drekken2975d ago

$199.00 PS3 was the only console bundle I heard anyone talking about.

No one on my friends list was posting how happy they were to get a 360 or Wii bundle. I only saw posts about people picking up Ps3's.

Ducky2975d ago

... The 360 deal is the only one I heard anyone pepper spraying about.

Seems it was more in demand.
=p

gamingdroid2975d ago

LOL... you keep saying that and I keep laughing.

I wonder if that will be the trend for next years Black Friday shopping.

Jocosta2975d ago

The Ps3 is nothing to pepper spray about.

theonlylolking2975d ago

Or maybe those who were buying the xbox 360's on black friday are not as civilized as the ones who were buying PS3's that day?

hadouken0072975d ago

From one incident, it was in popular demand?

smashcrashbash2975d ago

So because one [email protected]$$ pepper sprayed some people over a system that automatically means its in higher demand? I hope you are joking because that is pretty dumb logic.Just because you didn't hear every story about every idiot who punched, kicked or tackled someone over a PS3 or a Wii that means the 360 was in higher demand? Please.

Maybe your rich 'friends' already had xbox's then if they are only just now picking up PS3s...

bozebo2975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

"Microsoft Xbox 360® 4GB"

4GB...

LOL why. People have no idea what they are buying do they?

Ace_Man_62975d ago

I totally agree my friend

SonyNGP2975d ago

Because it's cheap?
Just give a kid a 4GB 360 and a copy of MW3 and he'll shut his trap for months until the next CoD is out.

kma2k2975d ago

for $150 that is a great deal, i bought my 4gb model for $200. If people are smart they will do what i did, buy the $10 hdd case from amazon & a used 60gb xbox hdd from ebay for $10 & you got an OEM xbox hdd with a cheap ass 360 im happy as hell about it.

Tito082975d ago (Edited 2975d ago )

Right, but if you look at it, for $50 more, you get a console with 160g HDD & 2 games, that's hundred times a better deal than that 360 dude, 4GB to 160 gig is a huge difference!!!!

saladthieves2975d ago

I agree with Tito08

The cheapest PS3 is so much better than the cheapest Xbox 360. In my opinion an additional $50 gets you a PS3 with a spacious HDD of 160 GB.

I would rather spend that on the PS3 than an additional $100 for the 250GB S console. In my opinion, the PS3 would be a MUCH better deal, bundled or not. Comes with a large HDD, and if you want more, you can get it (even 1TB) without being limited to 250 GB at a much lower/better cost. You also get to play free online. Include in a free2play game like DC Universe Online and I say, you're off to a valuable start that costs you so less.

The PS3 would be a better option, in my opinion.

2975d ago
Death2975d ago

Comparing HDD's is a moot point between the two consoles. The PS3 chews through HDD space like it's candy. You NEED a larger HDD on the PS3 due to it's tendancy towards mandatory installs for most games. If you have a USB stick or two laying around they will increase your 4Gig 360's storage space for next to nothing.

For around $200 there really isn't much of a reason for anyone not to have both consoles.

Tito082970d ago (Edited 2970d ago )

@ Death- For your Information, very few games in my PS3 collection requires Instals, BTW, I wouldn't waste my time bothering plugging a USB stick or 2 on a useless 4gb drive when I can buy a 500gb HDD for an affordable price, but as of right now, I don't need it since there's still plenty of space left that would last for a long more time... So still, 4gb is useless!!!!!

ShaunCameron2975d ago

They do. Maybe they just wanna play games. No DLC. No online multiplayer. You know. They. just wanna play straight-up video games. And a 4GB XBox 360 is actually more than adequate.

saladthieves2975d ago

Yes, if you just wanna do something other than play games. a 4GB limitation is pretty small. I wouldn't want to buy it cheap and then find out later that if I need to store my games, I need to buy an additional HDD. That just sucks.

That's just crazy. People who play games are MOST LIKELY going to be playing online THAN downloading DLC. Besides, how will you try out the latest demos and such? You will soon or later find out that you need more space.

rob60212975d ago

MS with the hidden charges.. makes me wonder how many casually interested people are turned off to gaming because they think the way MS does business is standard for gaming.

saladthieves2975d ago

Exactly.

If you go with for example the cheapest Xbox 360 options (4GB, Silver/free account), you will be missing out on so much more than if you simply went with the cheapest PS3 (160GB) both excluding bundles. The difference between the two ($50) does not justify their reason for purchasing. Their value on the other hand is very different.

If you want to game online, communicate with your friends, send messages, purchase online games etc then the 4GB/Silver account will not do that in terms of space (4GB) and account type (free/silver).

However the same is not true for the PS3. You can game online, communicate with your friends, send messages, purchase online games etc all with the 160GB PS3 with any PSN account (Plus or not).

My point is if you're a newcomer looking to enter into the gaming console world and you want bang for your buck, I say go for the PS3 even if it costs you an additional $50. The value is much better. That's just my opinion!

Death2974d ago

You can see your friends online, send messages, buy games, music, movies and DLC with a silver account. You can also use a $5 thumb drive to increase your storage space if the official HDD is out of your price range. Black Friday had the 160 gig PS3 and 250 gig 360's at $199 at some retailers. Most gamers without either console are much better off buying the console that plays the most games they are interested in.

CoryHG2975d ago

the ps deal was by far the best

Oner2975d ago

Just goes to show what is to be expected when the PS3 gets it's regular every day price of $199 (in the not so distant future)! The thing will fly off the shelves and will most likely have stock issues for a while. Also IF it price drops next year and there are Black Friday deals like there were this year, then there is no doubt it will completely sell out EVERYWHERE and will undoubtedly be the "hot ticket must have item" for holidays 2012.
