Gamespot: The King of Fighters XIII (Deluxe Edition) Review

When we last left The King of Fighters, things weren't looking good. The King of Fighters XII, which was released in 2009, looked beautiful and had a solid fighting system, but its dearth of single-player content and busted online functionally killed it for many players. Now, The King of Fighters XIII is here, and it addresses all of the issues the previous installment faced. XIII is an immensely robust game that adds a lot a new content to XII's solid mechanics, and it easily earns this series the right to stand alongside other fighting giants in the genre's spotlight.

No spectator mode is beyond unacceptable. It verges on insult.

That goes for all fighters. Umvc3 at least rectified this. And after kof12....what's Kof's excuse?

I can understand your concerns. Considering where KOF was before, just having a functional online system is a huge leap for SNK. They're not technically savvy when it comes to online. It isn't perfect, but it's far better than what it was before.

Once they finally figure out how to setup a online infrastructure like Capcom has, we can expect to see spectator mode implemented in future SNK releases. Consider this "baby steps" for a rebuilding videogame company.
