Much like the changes made to the series during the jump to 3D with Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword follows a template that is distinctly Zelda in feel, but adds, expands and evolves the series beyond the scope of previous titles. The few issues this writer had with Skyward Sword are greatly outweighed by what the game has to offer. On top of fantastic aesthetics, the game improves the stagnant combat tremendously through the use of the Motion Plus controller, allowing for more precise and demanding swordplay. Skyward Sword also introduces more engaging and interesting environments, improves the storytelling and throws more customization options and RPG elements into the mix. All of these elements elevate Skyward Sword above any Zelda title to come before it, and make it a title well worth playing.
