Pet Zombies Review [Trendy Gamers]

Trendy Gamers: Pet Zombies seems like it should be a lot of fun. You are given a zombie as a pet and you can play with it, torture it, or nurture it. What could have been a great Nintendogs spoof comes up short because of a broken levelling up system and repetitive interactions with your zombie.

You know I really wanted to like this game. What a shame.

TrendyGamers4534d ago

Yeah, me too. The description on the box made it sound awesome! But as you can tell, it came up short.

Pet Zombies could have been pretty entertaining...I'm a sucker for anything "Zombie" related, so thanks for the heads up on this one. I'll definitely take a pass.

Denkiphile: Pet Zombies Review

Denkiphile: "Pet simulators, like famous Japanese robotic dog AIBO, are really only enjoyable if players can’t own the actual pet. Once I got my own dog, Nintendogs immediately began to gather dust. When the imaginary pet in question is a bit more exotic, obviously the real life alternative is out of the question. A different take on the recent zombie trend, Pet Zombies doesn’t let players blast zombies, but raise them as the name would imply."

Pixelitis: Pet Zombies (3DS) review

Does the current lineup of 3DS games look a little boring to you? Sure, we have the typical Mario title (finally), and a few good hits here and there, like Star Fox or Harvest Moon, but these games are all the same ideas and titles you’ve seen before. Maybe you want something fresh…ly dead.

Enter, Pet Zombies. This zombified twist on the Nintendogs-style genre isn’t about getting through the next level. Instead, it gives you the complete control over your pet zombie, and it is up to you if you want to be caring to the undead or torture it until your wicked heart’s content.

That was the intention, at least. What seems like a fantastic idea that should be selling out from how zombie-obsessed our culture is didn’t quite seem to be fleshed out.

Get it? Fleshed…erm…

Anyway, does this game shamble its way into our hearts? Or does it deserve a shotgun to the brain

Wiiloveit.com: Pet Zombies - 3DS Review

"Alright, let's get real here. Pet Zombies has to be the strangest game to appear on the 3DS thus far. In a word, it's an oddball. Although it mimics past simulation formulas, its demeanor gives it enough room to stand out from the pack. And yet, the marked lack of enjoyment is probably just as big of a differentiation point as the oddity of the concept itself." -- Wiiloveit.com
