Digital Foundry - Face-Off: Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Richard Leadbetter writes:

"But make no mistake - this is still a fully featured Assassin's Creed title with a lot of gameplay to enjoy, so which console version gets the nod? Well, in visual terms the gap has narrowed once more to the point where image quality comparisons are basically pointless, but things are certainly different from a performance perspective. Here, across the run of play, it's clear that the Xbox 360 version has a consistency in terms of frame-rate and controller response that seems to be lacking within certain map areas on the PlayStation 3."

This game looks good, but I haven't even played Brotherhood yet. I think they have been releasing these games to quickly as I didn't even got to finish AC2 before AC:B was out...

Shaman4326d ago

Yea, AA really looks great in this one. Very smooth and no blurring. Visually almost exactly the same, performances not so much.

andron4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

Yeah they finally ditched the blurry Quincunx AA on PS3. Hope no other games use this any more since there are better options available now...

Oldman1004326d ago

Wow, so the performance is a step back from brotherhood. Wtf ubisoft. It seems like graphics are more important than gameplay nowadays. Bring on next gen, i'm sick of all the screen tearing and framerate drops.

DF is always minimizes PS3 advantages, check out the Portal 2. Neither single console owner would lose here but I'll trust LOT because in the pictures PS3 looked better and they seem more objective IMO.

qwertyz4326d ago (Edited 4325d ago )

the 360 version is superior LOT are amateurs and their comparisons are not in-depth. the pc version will destroy both when it launches though LOL PC FTW all the previous AC games on pc look much better than UC3 or any other console game

PC>>>>>>> ;>>>>>>consol es

you console fanboys can continue trying to point out minute differences if it makes you feel better about your inferior platforms LOL

When will you decommission this new one? I’m only asking so I can be happier by not buying it at full price.

The dog Chorizo from FAR CRY 6 has wheelchair legs, so is hardly a decommissioned pet. In fact very useful for digging up dirt.

Historic Eras that Video Games Need to Explore

Xfire writes "Worldbuilding is a crucial part of any story. It's not an easy task to create a believable setting with its own set of rules, customs, traditions and political affiliations and then weave a story into the said setting. Luckily, storytellers and video game writers don't always need to create complex settings when we've got history books as thick as Big Chungus.

Historical eras make a fabulous setting for video games. They've already got the world-building nailed, complete with their own set of rules, customs, traditions and political affiliations. Honestly, I don't think I need to justify the fact that historical eras make an amazing setting for video games. If you don't believe me, just go ahead and play the Ghost of Tsushima or any of the Assassin's Creed games."

The first crusade would be pretty sweet. I’d probably enjoy any of those on your list if they were done respectfully. Like not some dork in Portland making a Russian Revolution game.

Benin Empire, Far East, Central America. Games are pretty biased toward Europe, North America, and the Middle East. There is a very big world out there.
