Tribes Ascend Gameplay First Look Video

Tribes: Ascend, developed using the Unreal 3 engine, is being positioned as the multi-player successor to the much lauded Tribes 2 and a re-introduction of the franchise to the gaming world.

New Tribes? CAN'T WAIT!!!

I really loved Tribes when it first came out. (ages ago) Doesn't look like the game has really improved it's look though to match anything that might be considered current generation gaming.

The graphics look very dated and the game mechanics look... well weak actually.

Something needs to be done to make the game mean something in gaming today.

The "CORE" game play is for those who appreciate skill. Tribes Ascend goes back to basics and brings all the things that made the Tribes series legendary back into one complete package. The game is rock solid for a Beta and you can expect a well balanced game with NO Noobtubes and overpowered Perks like other "CASUAL" titles.

Tribes is why Bungie made Halo so therefore Tribes certainly means something to gaming today. Also it's not a COD clone and Tribes requires skill and strategy unlike the mindless shooting of COD. Tribes definitely ofers an alternative to the COD crap and clones of gaming today.

Also this is just Beta and more improvements are coming.

Well no... that means that Tribes meant something back when halo was made by Bungie. Since then Halo has done more with the FPS then Tribes and Tribes 2 was awful in my eyes compared to the original.

Relevant in this generation means just that... relevant! What makes Tribes relevant today? You name the core game play versus COD. (which I would have liked to have seen a comparison with a much better skill and strategy game like BF3.) But really it looks like it runs on the Serious Sam engine. Graphics are weak. Why can't they have the game play AND make the graphics capable?

The few levels I saw on your video reminded me little more of what they did with Tribes 2. Nothing spectacular. Basically 2 factions fighting against each other with large expanse between the bases to travel.

Show us some video of some of this core gaming strategy and skill that you talk of Tribes having? Looked little different from Tribes 2 and/or a watered down version of Quake with Ski skills and vehicles added.

I have defended the Tribes franchise in the past. i can't defend this title with the way that it looks today. Looks little better then an Indie title to me. Sorry.

I want the Tribes franchise to come back around and do something to get me wanting to play it. This video did just the opposite. Felt like I was going back in time with that game play video.

Hi-Rez gives Tribes: Ascend an "Out of the Blue" Update

Back in March of 2013, Hi-Rez broke the news to its Tribes: Ascend fans that they would need to take several months away from the game in order to focus all its efforts on SMITE. Several months became more than two years, and fans were beginning to believe that Hi-Rez would simply never return to Tribes.

But the recent 1.1 update -- a.k.a. the Out of the Blue Update -- has proven those naysayers wrong.
