Treyarch has done right by Wii owners with this faithful port. Bravo.

The Wii build of MW3 is as visually pleasing as any online FPS released on the system. It controls like a dream, offers customization out the wazoo, and is so heavy on content that you’d expect the disc to weigh more. It’s as close to perfecting the original (and quite durable) COD4 template as any release this generation has seen.

I don't think any CoD game will ever be as good as CoD4. 4 was just amazing and the maps were still the best I've seen in any CoD game.

I agree on the maps. IW was just on a roll when they crafted those multiplayer maps, and it might not be topped at all. COD4 was just that good.

But the additional content (weapon proficiencies are a blast), and the balancing of the kill streaks (COD4's attack chopper was always a bit too much of an easy button, IMO) does make MW3 a formidable game. If Treyarch patches it up, it'll stand alone as the biggest, most comprehensive FPS on Wii.

Isn't Metroid better? I've never played it but it's hard to believe COD is the best FPS , the games good but has crap SP.

Fans usually consider Metroid to be an FPA not on a FPS because its focus is on puzzles and exploration. It play very differently than your typical FPS.

Also, MW3 on the Wii is almost as good as on consoles, plus many people prefer the precision of the IR pointer of the Wiimote, so there are added benefits.

Yup. The Metroid Prime series, like the main Metroid games, are more action/adventure (no one calls Super Metroid a third-person shooter). You're in first-person and you shoot, but it's a supplementary factor.

OTOH, COD is all about shooting, specifically the multiplayer. It's about that aspect of competition (which Metroid doesn't have).

COD certainly looks better on other consoles. But I don't think it controls better, and that's an important factor.

id rather put resident evil 4 in the best wii shooter cause its a worthy of a game. mw3 belongs in a bottom 100

I don't disagree that Resident Evil 4 is a fantastic game and it deserves almost any accolade it can be showered with, but I think the Call of Duty series needs to be cut some slack.

Sure, sometimes the Call of Duty fanbase is a little too much, but that just comes from a franchise that competes with other big games in the same genre, such as Battlefield (whose fanbase can be equally annoying at times).

The Call of Duty games themselves do suffer from sequelitis and from not having as many changes for each iteration as we wish they would, but I would say that:
1.- this problem of sequelitis if pretty much all over the game industry right now, and of course that's a very bad thing, but it helps to keep it in perspective when writing about a certain franchise.
2.- The Call of Duty teams have to balance very carefully how many new mechanics they throw into their games, both because of the problem of new versus established fans, and because of the problem of balancing carefully old mechanics with new ones to provide a game that is competitively fair. Even Battlefield 3 struggles in this regard.

I do wish we'd gotten another Resident-Evil-4-style game from Capcom or from Visceral Studios, though.
