Final pre order data is in for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which will shortly become the biggest videogame launch of all time.
"Phew... we beat the clock!"
Crazy isn't it? The game really is a juggernaut when it comes to sales. I really do hope Activision invest the money they make into their sequels to keep them fresh. I can hear the nasally sounds of little kids getting excited already- their HD PVRs ready, their controllers ready to turn the sensitivity all the way up to 997%, bouncing off their beds jumping and doing 360 degree turns, getting ready to make those montages of no scope kills whilst conveniently concealing their K/D rations (most likely in the region of 0.0078) I remember going to the midnight launch of Black Ops (yes shame on me) and honestly, it wasn't even that big a supermarket, and no lie, there were over 200 people waiting. It was freezing, I got a horrible cold, I was number 145 in the queue, after 2 hours of not getting anywhere I thought F*** this and went home ill (and I had booked the next day off as a holiday....) The next day I found out that a shop 10 minutes away from me was selling the game and had no queues whatsoever. Then I played BO and my soul died a little. FML. Goes to show, there are going to be a lot of sales excluding pre-orders. When I drove home at midnight, there were queues forming in gaming stores all over. Crazy. I haven't really experienced a phenomenon like that in gaming ever. Pretty surreal but a testament to the sheer popularity of this game.
Dang that must suck.
No way would I wait that long for a Activision game. Ever see the sales of their other games? They almost always fail.
On Nov 8, 2011, the greatest game ever made will be released.
No shit sherlock.
You mean the MGS HD collections???? :D
You trippin boy
You guys be trippin. This game has the US Army and guns. That kinda makes it the best game ever by default. omg they also did some crazy innovations on the perks system. Infinity Ward is so ahead of the times.
After reading that it makes it hard to take your comment above seriously xD.
Uc3 was released last week silly. We all know that it was the best game ever. Every review shouldve been 10/10. At least that's what im lead to believe on this site.
For how much money this series makes, the production value is pretty lackluster.
Has been since MW1 IMO
Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders are much higher than Battlefield 3 first week sales :D
quality > sales just because it sells more does not mean it's better
You are right! Problem is, quality is for the most part is subjective especially in video games. Therefore, to consumers CoD has better quality as they passed other products up to buy this particular one. How consumers define quality though is entirely another question....
Quality is opinion based, where as critical and commercial success are at least a way to judge games against one another. MW3 will undoubtedly win the sales part and the Modern Warfare series seems to only get better, so I'd expect low 90's on Metacritic. I think all the COD games have quality and they sell in quantity.
Gamespot reports actually 9 million preorders for MW3 worldwide.
To all the Bf3 fanboys: Look at us now haters :P
Yea where watching you guys buy a full expansion for $60 what do you want a cookie??
Actually, I am proud of you. At least you embrace what you are. Now go away :P
Despite all the COD hates, this game will still be a biggest game of this year IMO. It will surpass it's predecessor when it comes to total sales I predict.
Wow, that is seriously ridiclous. I am getting this game after its out.
Wow. Such a sad world.
Volume sure does speak louder than words that's for sure. I don't know about the rest of you but I think this game will break past COD records.
Seriously, what has this world come to? :S
it is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING to me how people keep buying this rehash ? i am amazed. are people F*CKING blind ? do they see what i see ? we are talking about mw3 right ? dam at this point they can put a pice if dog $hit in a case with the name "call of duty" and sell millions
