I never got why people would want to spend money on these. Wouldn't it be more fun to discover things on your own like back in the good ol' days?

Some games were designed to sell guides because they had a ton of stuff that's practically impossible to find without them, and sometimes they're important items.

Then there's FFXII. You can really mess up your chances of getting the best weapon, the Zodiac Spear, in the game without even knowing you messed up until you find out you did when you start looking on the internet on how to get the best weapon. All you have to do to mess up is open one of a few chests and doing so will make the chest the weapon will appear in contain something much less valuable. If you miss your chance, your best bet is to either start all over or you can just grind in this one dungeon that has something like a 0.000001 chance of spawning the Zodiac Spear.

Back in the old days almost every game had a strategy book you can buy. It's much more rare now. So I don't see your point.

Okay, a couple of things caught my eye here:

"will include all the DLC and PS4 exclusive features" (exclusuve features?)

"plus coverage of the new arsenal, accessories, and skills"

Sounds like they might've added in a few things without telling us, the Naughty Dogs.

Grand Theft Auto V: Brady Games Strategy Guide review | InsideTheBox

Grand Theft Auto V has taken the gaming world by storm, breaking sales records and getting top review scores all-round. The game is huge, and requires a lot of time and exploration to complete to 100%. Without help, it is almost impossible to see everything in the game, and that is where the Brady Games strategy guide comes in! The guide acts as a companion for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Can I get a review of the ink they used on this strategy guide? I often regret buying guides because a lot of the times the ink smears like mascara on a stripper in church.

crimsonfox3911d ago (Edited 3911d ago )

yes -_-

I don't really know why I typed all that... I'm really tired man.

I am happy to report that I had no such issue whatsoever with this guide. You should trust Brady Games; their guides are always very high in quality (I have about 30 of them sitting on the shelf) and I have never seen any smudging. As a matter of fact, I have never seen any printing defect in any of them!

all about the special edition guide,

best £12 I ever spent.

(apart from my fallout 3 special edition guide)

I didn't know people BOUGHT guides anymore, let alone reviewed them...

inside_thebox3911d ago

You don't get this level of quality on an internet walkthrough. There is just something nice about having a printed guide physically in front of you.

I think it is far easier to have a paper book in front of you, rather than going to a tablet of phone for help with games. For a game like GTAV, its not really a case of looking for help, its a case that you will need to be told that X exists, because you'd miss a lot of stuff otherwise :)

Double_O_Revan3911d ago

Its pretty thorough, but it didn't cover anything about the stock market. And since it's such an important part of the game, I found that disappointing.
