League of Legends is one of the first MOBAs, boasting many unique characters and mechanics, yet today struggles to produce anything original.
Your first mistake was taking in the word MOBA. It's not really an Arena, it's a battlefield. That is of lesser importance.
Your biggest mistake was not to credit Icefrog, who is the main person responsible for where DotA, HoN & LoL is today. Yes, Eul, Guinsoo are a huge part of DotA development and especially taking DotA to DotA Allstars was the first step towards success, but without Icefrog turning the game from a custom map into a competitive title with his changes to the game, the spawnlings from Riot Games, S2Games & Valve would likely not have happened.
Icefrog is still the developer of DotA on the WC3:TFT platform. He works on the custom map alongside with developing Dota2 with Valve.
I did like the article for it's honesty, except for the two mentioned mistakes, as it labels the different titles in their respective category, League of Legends being the easiest and most different, Heroes of Newerth being the replica of DotA and Dota2 being the exact transfer from the WC3 Editor to Source Engine.
