Video game cover art can sometimes make or break it for the consumer looking for a pretty box. Being a graphic designer, I understand the importance of ascetics and how people do judge a book by its cover. I'm guilty of it too, passing up on a critically acclaimed game because the cover art didn't do it for me. Fans around the world have created their own cover art just to make sure that their favorite game gets the visual justice it deserves....
RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

Infinite is a dumpster fire and as much as I like ODST, in no universe it ranks above Halo 2. This list is trash.

These just look like game wallpapers that have been stuck on the box.
Just because they're pretty in general, doesn't mean they have what it takes to be boxart (although I'm sure some would be great as special editions). Although that's not to say there haven't been some atrocious attempts at box art.
Could you have done more Xbox 360 ones? I'd like to see an Alan Wake one or Fable, or a Kinect game cover.

Of course game covers are designed for unsuspecting parents and uneducated grandparents, meaning the need to be colourful and in-your-face in order to be bought. Surreal, obscure and artistic covers just wont cut it in terms of marketing.
