Does Zelda Span Multiple Timelines?

Richard George: For years Zelda's producers have maintained that they know a true order for the iconic Nintendo franchise, despite many of the games seemingly overlapping and contradicting each other in subtle and significant ways. Even the most dedicated fans only have theories, none of them verified or completely flawless.

Ok it goes skyward sword > OOT > MM > WW >PH > spirt tracks

i don't know where tp and the 2d games fit in any ideas?

zerocrossing4979d ago

Well that's my understanding of too.

But apparently TP is just between OOT and WW, but don't ask how that works :/

No, Windwaker came after the fact there was no hero.
Windwaker is not on the same line as Majora's mask.

In twilight princess they refer back to MM i think, because young Link told zelda and the king bout Ganon. This happened after Zelda sent link back to his childhood after defeating and sealing off ganon. This is happens 7 years in the future. Zelda stays behind.( poor girl never experienced her childhood)

After young link warned the king they sealed Ganon into the abyss. This happened in links original time. Afterwards he goes to Termina to find Navi.

Whether it's all made up or whatever, Nintendo kinda hinted that OOT created a split timeline.

It's actually
Minish Cap > Skyward Sword > OoT > MM > TP > LttP > LA > Zelda 2

or Minish > SS >OoT > WW > PH > ST

ChickeyCantor4978d ago (Edited 4978d ago )

They actually said that Skyward sword is the beginning.
But then again Minish Cap explains how the hero got the green cap...The princess of hyrule was already named Zelda in Minish Cap. So it can't be the beginning.

And Zelda 2 was after Zelda 1. Hyrule moved to the north or something xD

The reason Nintendo doesn't show their time line is simply because there are some GAPS and errors in there. They are filling them up as we speak i guess.

"Zelda is pretty much based off the bible."

....eh....

GunofthePatriots4978d ago

I dont believe Zelda has a chronological order or in the beginning it didn't. I think now they're trying to connect the game.

Zelda is pretty much based off the bible.

Redempteur4978d ago

There are 2 timeline ...but there is a moment that existed before the split in the timeline .. OoT is the game that split the timelines ...but everything that happens before that point is in a chronological line.

ignorantsonsof_4978d ago

Exactly they've stated many times that Ocarina split the timeline, and they refer to them as the Adult and Child timelines. Windwaker occurs in the Adult timeline, while Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess occur in the Child timeline. I don't see why the question about whether or not there are multiple timelines is still being brought up.

Soplox4978d ago

Theres just one timeline until the ending of OoT

ignorantsonsof_4978d ago

The franchise would lose nothing if the timeline was released? Yeah right one of the biggest appeals to the franchise that keeps people coming back to older titles for something else than the great gameplay is the speculation about where each game fits into the timeline. Aonuma himself said that the mystery behind the series is something that makes it so interesting to fans, and to take that away would be a terrible idea.

Link Should Talk, but Choose His Words Carefully in The Legend of Zelda Movie

Link should have a voice in The Legend of Zelda Movie. While he mostly stays quiet in the games, he canonically does speak but usually holds back on expressing his thoughts. In a movie format, it is better for the character and the story itself that Link speaks.

I just hope it's not a bunch MCU Snarky McJokeface dialog. Started playing veilguard free on PSN (would not recommend) and it's a perfect example of how dialog in contemporary entertainment is garbage.

It's gonna be Chris Pratt again lol
