While the deal hasn’t been officially confirmed by Sony or Ubisoft, that didn’t stop Sony Pictures from registering over a dozen “Assassin’s Creed” movie domain names such as assassinscreedthefilm.com.
They could take the movie in different ways. I mean do you focus on just Altair, or just Ezio, or Desmond+Altair, or Desmond+Ezio, or all 3 of them, or have a new ancestor to have a unique sub-story, or do you have a new descendant altogether?
Flexibility is a great thing to have when film-making instead of being restrained by the game's story/characters/plots etc.
But honestly, there are only 2 directors in the world who should touch this project, either Christopher Nolan (the parallels between Assassin and Inception are uncanny), or Ridley Scott (He has shown that he can make some pretty fucking historic epic films ie: Gladiator, Robin Hood, Kingdom of Heaven).
I suppose Zack Snyder would be another good option, despite when making his own films they tank, but he makes some pretty epic adptations of comic books already.
And maybe Peter Jackson, if he isnt too busy with the LotR films, which I think he is.
I think it is up to the devs. The director of The Fighter tried to screw up Uncharted. He thought he was badass after winning some awards.
Director: "lol i won award for fighting movie and now video game company want me to make film for them? i in good mood today, now i make peasants happy.... OMG IM HAVIN A VISION GUIZ"
This is one of the few franchises in which a movie could work well (assuming it doesn't go as daft in story line as the last assassins creed game)
I hope this movie kicks @ss
I hope it's as good as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time or half as good as Street Fighter. ;)
i thought ubisoft set up their own studio to make movies based on their games.
