A sequel selling higher than its predecessor should be the rule and not the exception. So far this year I can only name 3 exclusive sequels that have opened higher than their predecessors, inFAMOUS 2, Gears 3 and Forza 4. The rest are languishing under their older brothers' shadows. By week 8
inFAMOUS 2 was already trailing its predecessor though and that trend has continued.

edit: Sorry raiinstorm, didn't mean to stealth anything. I'm just tired and rambling. Didn't mean to appear to be sneaky or pulling a fast one.

Gonna just hit the rack and try another day.

starcraft 2 sold 2.5 million in 24 hours!

humbleopinion2649d ago

Actually it took SC2 about a week to get to that number. It got to the 1.5 million mark after two days:
Gears 3 pulled that number faster, so what is your point exactly?

If you say Flop, so what do you call both Resistance 3 and inFamous 2 since both of them sold way less than Forza 4 did on opening Week. Also, Killzone 3 sold roughly the same as Forza 4 did during the first week worldwide. Is that game a flop too?

genres. I preferred Killzone2 over Killzone3 simply because they tried to cater to the COD crowd. I still bought it though. Turn 10 is constantly bring up Polyphony Digital as if they're rivals. The truth is Turn10 isn't even on PD's radar.

Let's compare apples to apples using your site shall we?

Look at Forza4's first week sales:

Now look at Gran Turismo5 first week sales:

Both are great games for their respected consoles. But when you compare the two (xbox360 having larger install base 2.9m+) not really in the league of GT5, sorry.

Foot Note: GT5 did more in America it's first week than Forza4 did worldwide it's first week. I'm more of a PGR fan but to each his own.
