First Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword review - 98% in ONM

The first Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword review is in. Official Nintendo Magazine have awarded the new Zelda Wii game their joint highest review score ever.

To be honest I don't really think it has a chance of being GOTY...now just because I said that dosen't mean I don't think the game looks good I just think theres more better and bigger games in the spotlight to even give Zelda a chance.

I don't know if it's just me but I don't really feel any hype for this game, the only time it's really mentioned and was the main focus was at E3 and the bits and bobs we hear on here when small bits of info are talked about.

Really I think the top three GOTY contenders are

Uncharted 3
Skyrim
Batman AC

even after that you still have Portal 2, Gears of War 3, L.A Noire for example

I think you underestimate the appeal of a great Zelda game, Lightning.

This is how you know this generation of consoles will soon be over. Everything is getting a 9+ / 10, and IMO most of these game deserve it. I've been hardpressed to find one bad high profile game thus far, most of which have been very deserving of their review scores.

Lightning, it is not about hype, but quality.
And the only reason your not hyped about it is because Nintendo is pretty secretive, and dosen't shove upcoming game content down our throat every day like other companies do. It makes the game more interesting to play the less you know about what happens in it, in my opinion.

That right there, is telling. When was the last time your saw reviewers utter that sentence. I can give you a clue. The year begins with 19 and ends in 98. Nintendo seem to have really put their heart and soul into this one so I'm really hoping this lives up to Ocarina of Time (Not to say TP and WW weren't amazing games but OT out did them still ever so slightly).

As you can see from my avatar, I'm a big fan and cannot wait for this title. November 18th, I'm gonna be waiting by the door for the postman to deliver my Limited Edition Bundle with the golden Wii remote. It will be, a glorious day to be a gamer.

Yeah that's fine and dandy for those who are Zelda fans, but it's going to take more then ONM saying it to get GotY. Already with Arkham City cleaning up perfect scores with Uncharted 3, Skyrim, BF3, and Assassin's Creed coming behind it, I honestly doubt Zelda is going to win. It will be a critical hit no doubt but there are too many other games that induce hype a little more substantially then Skyward Sword.

I don't think BF3 will be competing for GOTY; previews of its campaign havent been very positive. Zelda is mos def up there; the series has nothing to prove.

Yeah, except the only ones who aren't Zelda fans are the people who haven't played them.

I would take "Best Zelda" with a grain of salt though. A lot of reviews were saying that at the time for Twilight Princess, and now a lot of people are saying "Ben there, done that." Hype influences reviews too much.

cant wait to dive into this rich world. i switched my pre order from uncharted 3 to this due to the length of the game. 40 hours is better than 8 hours. ill get UC3 when the price goes down, im not paying 60 for multiplayer when i will never touch it.

Just going by your own reason you might as well switch your preoder again from Zelda to Dark Souls or Skyrim, both of which have more than 40 hours gameplay.

A link to the past is also up there but it did not have the impact as the original Zelda, the Ocarina of Time..and eventually Skyward Sword.

The former 2 invented their respective genre and bring it to mainstream. With Skywrd Sword, I think it will revolutionized what motion base adventure gaming can do.

yes there are other top quality games out, but this one will shine above them.

these titles on 360/ps3 just get a lot of hype because they are big games on those consoles. But in comparison to zelda (which only comes once every ten years) these games are not in the same league as zelda. dont let (bias) critics or fans fool you

look at xenoblade, even that game is a contender for GOTY, but it wont get a mention by the average ps3/360 journalist, let alone the gamers.

I don't care what other people think..this is my most wanted game of the year-if people think that Uncharted or Batman are better games good for them that's there opinion..in my opinion I will take Skyward Sword over ANY game ten times over..Damn its getting really,really hard to wait!

I already preordered Skyward Sword, so this is in no way a "bash". It just seems a little early for reviews, especially reviews claiming it to be "the greatest Zelda EVER". I would be extremely disappointed if they reviewed an unfinished product.
