2011 has seen the iOS operating system absolutely blossom as a source of quality games on a user’s iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad. There are choices abound, and surely something for the casual player looking to play a game on their daily commute for a few minutes à la Angry Birds, or something a bit more involved, such as a hard core RPG fan looking to tackle Final Fantasy III on their iPad at home. There have been excellent conversions of board game favorites, such as Ticket to Ride as well. Now, fresh from the Nintendo DS, is Scribblenauts Remix.
While many indie games suffer from the same problems as their AAA peers, getting mired down in retreaded subject material and clichéd mechanics, the most interesting titles recognize their freedom and show no fear in taking advantage of it. Nonetheless, the game isn’t exclusive to Kindle devices, and its long overdue arrival makes for a very welcome addition to the Android gaming landscape.
