"It’s pretty universal amongst game journalists, reviewers, and gamers alike that Gears of War 3 is a good game. Very few are arguing against its merits as one of the better games to come out so far in 2011. After all, it did win most anticipated game of 2011 (and Microsoft made sure to remind you of this every step of the way). However, some people did note that the game made very little changes to the previous installments of the franchise. I’d also be hard pressed to find anyone to disagree with that. But the question is, did Epic Games need to make any changes? Was there something monumentally flawed with the game, or were people clamoring for more or something new?"
