The problem with a list like this is that it's not long enough. You would need to fit MGS2 and MGS4 in there, more Zelda games, at least 2 Metroids, and perhaps one more Mario game. Some games just can't be excluded from a list like this.

Opinions. Everybody has got one. Uncharted 2 tops my list of all-time favorites with Super Mario Bros. 3 close at 2nd because it is still super fun to play, even about 15 or 20 years later.

yeah the list isnt that bad, i dont personally agree with half life or diablo, or ff10, but pretty good list still.

I would add Dark souls or demons souls for a personal list :P

It's not to many Final Fantasy and Metal Gear games, they deserve to be there. It's to short of a list to fit everything, it should be a 20 list, read my comment above.

There should also be a rule - not more than 2 games per franchise and yes I do agree the list is far too short for several games per franchise.

If you start cherry-picking, what should and shouldn't be on the list, it defeats the purpose of leaving the vote up to our audience?

We did, we had 210 nominees (all selected from various members of the community), and posted a poll on the site for a week and a half. Everyone was free to vote for their Top 3 from that list. And the 10 highest ranking ones became the list.

I liked Shaq Fu as a kid...

Mainly for the weird characters though, did anyone who played that game ever actually play as Shaq though? I mean with the choice of a mummy, a hooded green skeleton and a red beast with claws, who the hell goes for the washed up basketball player? Even the mechanic guy was more interesting.

The thing is, you can sum up pretty much anything anyone's going to write in reply to one of these threads by simply writing 'not bad, but where's [insert game x]', or 'good list, but where's [insert game y]' or 'worst list ever doesn't have [insert game z]'.

Best part of the list is no games from this gen :) Usually of top ten game it 90% of games from this gen.

Still like 100% of all the other lists I've seen, the they are all pulled only from the "sweet spot" of the responders (i.e. when the people making the list started gaming). The people involved in the list are all clearly too young to remember a lot of truly classic games and seem to have mostly played consoles. Most are probably not even aware aware of stuff like, say, the heyday of the Ultima series or System Shock or some of the amazing designs from Bullfrog in the early 90s.

Their list is way too late 90s and Japanese centric (as was the entire late 90s console era) for me personally.

For me it's impossible to do a TOP 10 Games of all time list because my favorite franchise like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill & other have more than 1 game that deserve to be in this list also like JRPG maniac my list must have many favorite games of mine of this kind, it's easier to do a specific genre list for example "TOP 10 JRPG of all time" or "TOP 10 Horror Surviving games of all time" or "TOP 10 Action Adventure or all time" etc :)

Too many people are asking "where is xxxxxx?" Best ever lists are a matter of opinion. What appears on one person's list doesn't mean that those games are absolutely the best of all time.

My best ever is MGS1; also on my list is Shenmue, Tony Hawks 2, GTA VC, Goldeneye, UC2.

I seriously haven't played any of these games...
I played mario and zelda but not those 2.

For halflife, diablo, final fantasy,mgs and deus ex. I haven't played a single game in these franchises.

And no im not a little kiddy that started this gen.

Half Life 2 was OK but wouldn't even be in my top 20.
