Pachter definitely needs a protege who actually plays these games. Also Pachter, the new 3DS is already in the works. But you're right about the time frame. Two years.
The truth is that these days betas are used as marketing tool.... Unfornately yes it's true... the only real "betas" happen outside of the public knowledge... by private companys and such... But still Blizzard/Valve says it's a beta then it's really a beta... Same goes for Red Ochestra developer's team.. more then 7gb updates since the beta.. now that's true developers
"The truth is that these days betas are used as marketing tool.... Unfornately yes it's true... the only real "betas" happen outside of the public knowledge... by private companys and such..." I agree but I think they do not use these outside companies anymore. Since games can be patch after release the method of fix it later (which is cheaper to do( occurs.
Developers told Nintendo to include an extra circle pad. And they chose to ignore them and now thet release an extra slide pad accessory plus the next model will have an extra pad. Nintendo really screwed up with the 3ds when it came to controls. Hopefully Nintendo will not make any more silly mistakes in the future. XperiaRay
I actually think hes wrong about Nintendo waiting 2 years for the new 3DS model. Tokyo Game Show 2012, unveil the new model, cut the price of the existing model to clear out the remaining units and then ship the new 3DS holiday 2012. Why wait 2 years? We all know its coming and they have real competition in the handheld space for probably the first time ever.
I agree. There are already like six games announced that will required the add-on. Even Nintendo delayed Kid Icarus to make use of the second analog stick. I really don't think they want to depend on an add-on, which people might not buy, for too long; especially when the Vita is coming out this year in Japan and Q1 the rest of the world. I actually think they would unveil the new model at E3 to launch during Christmas, even earlier.
