The newly-released Tetris Axis isn’t Tetris‘ first foray into 3D portable gaming. In fact, it’s not the second, either. The Virtual Boy saw what remain the best and worst 3D entries of the series: the horrible 3D Tetris and the wonderful (but Japan-only) V-Tetris.
If V-Tetris represents the pinnacle of 3D-enabled Tetris and 3D Tetris defines the lowest depths, Tetris Axis is at the middle point of the Tetris axis.
To capitalize on the fond memories and nostalgia of gamers and geeks, many artists in several genres have sampled classic games sound effects and themes.

Today they are offering Metroid: Other M for the Nintendo Wii.
Though the majority of gamers, hated it. People wanted Nintendo's franchises to evolve, and M: Other M had voice overs, FMV's, nice looking visuals, and a story to boot. The basic case of: "You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't", scenario.
Luckily the title was a successful, and went on to selling a million units.
I loved that game... I wish they'd make more like it... or maybe a 2-D metroid at least...
but they probably won't... well, guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with the Wii U.
