MW3 won’t have Black Ops’ Character Customization, but will have an “Enhanced” Theater Mode

Although Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2, comparisons with the previous Call of Duty title, Black Ops, are bound to happen. Robert Bowling shed some light on some of the similarities and differences between the two games in question.

Face paint was a gimmick in Black Ops. I don't mind that it's not coming back. As long as they work on balance, I'm happy.

I just hope that the theatre mode doesn't become Elite only. I don't want features taken away that the older games had, just to become Elite "features". I'm not going to buy Elite, because I don't buy into the whole DLC map pack thing. I'll buy the game (regular version) and play it like hell, but I'm not giving them more money for stuff that could've been on the disc when I picked it up. lol

I used face paint a lot when I was a kid but when it came to black ops I just wasn't interested, I guess I'm just growing up :(

Kind of a downer that they won't have character customization. I know its not a big issue but I would love to have my own custom guy instead of one of these generic faces they give you. Just gives it a personalized feeling especially when you are playing with friends and you kill their character! lol oh well i'll still enjoy the game.

I think Rob is a little ticked that BO out did MW2 in sales. It's good that they have some kind of rivalry within the company. In theory, that competitive type of environment should push them improve their games to new heights. lol

Facepaint wasn't really small add-on. I prfer my character to wear a gas mask anyway

It's not so much about seeing your character, but other players seeing you.
As well as you seeing others' characters and what they are doing with them..

Seems kinda stupid to think if you can customize a charcters look and outfit that you would want to look at it the whole time you are playing. Do you wear raggedy clothes around in real life because you can't see yourself and what you are wearing? Or are you the opposite and don't leave your house without being surrounded by mirrors cause whats the point if you can't see the cool outfits you have on?

KaBaW has it understood. It worked great in BRINK, people had whole teams with themes or similar colors, you could make look-a-likes (I had a Hulk Hogan character in it and it was very authentic looking), and it helped you recognize who was who (when they weren't clones of each other) so you knew who to watch out for and who to not be afraid of. Nothing is worse then being killed by a guy who looks ridiculous either and it worked great for the disguising in BRINK. You knew people from their characters looks and not just their gamer tag.

Nan, What's stupid is you don't realizes thats its a video game about WAR not dress up. I don't know about you, But when I put on clothing in the real world its for many reasons, But the main reason is to attract the opposite sex and on top of that I can see myself from the chest down....

I thought that the teams did looks the same and the enemies had names in big red letters? Guess that's too hard to tell who to shoot at.... And maybe its just me but I watch any of my teammates backs, Not just people I know.

Dude, seriously go play a game about Modeling & Fashion and leave the war games to people who wants the developers to worry more about the internet connections & hackers and etc.... Oh and BTW Brink F-ing sucks to much worring about outfits in that game!

I just think its good because your not seeing the same enemies over and over and over again. Games like halo, uncharted, Black ops, brink etc to some extent the players can all look unique.

Its not a big deal to me but I like when you are fighting a bunch of unique looking people over teh same 5 guys over and over again.

for a game like call of duty it would work, it doesn't take itself too seriously and not much of a realist war game. Its just an action game so having your own signature character would make it like a badass action movie.

you guys are crazy i don't know how many times i ran pass a player who was blended in with the building or the mountain snow surroundings or just for your own identity i personally liked it i can fake dead and camp for a minute for the ones that like to camp and cheat

I'm for character customization in FPS if I get to seem my character. Menus, playercards, films, etc all show my character so I would be cool with it. But for the most part its a bit of a waste of resources. I really didn't like how Black Ops did it, changing your outfit based on perk. I got tired of ugly ghillie suits running around with SMG's. It works in games like Halo where you have armor that becomes blue or red, or in Brink where you have a dedicated design for each of the two sides. COD has too many factions across the various maps to make full customization available. If they abandoned the 6-8 themed factions and went with just two sides then they could offer more options. I just don't see it happening or being necessary, although I wouldn't complain if it was there.
