PlayStation LifeStyle: Assassin’s Creed Revelations Singleplayer Preview

The Assassin’s Creed series has steadily improved with each console iteration; gameplay mechanics have been streamlined and new features, like multiplayer, have been added. But with Assassin’s Creed Revelations set to be the third game centered around Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the original lure of a time-hopping adventure where every game is set in a different era hasn’t been fully realized. With that in mind, does Revelations bring anything new to the table, or is it one Ezio game too many?

Definitely got my expectations up

It's gotta be difficult for Ubi to keep elevating the series. I was starting to think they couldn't anymore. But reading about the hookblade and the mixing and creating of over 300 bombs sounds amazing.

Yeah, I've been continuously surprised too, this actually still looks good... I keep expecting Guitar Hero syndrome, but as long as it doesn't go that way they can keep 'em coming.

Gonna keep my expectations low, that way it might surprise me.

Good thinking. Still, Assassins and surprises don't always have the best of endings.

Agreed I won't believe that this game will provide a challenege til after I play it for myself. I am not going to get to hyped because the AC series has always dissapointed me.

"while the combat hasn’t changed much, the enemies have; Ottoman Janissaries are huge, tough and plentiful – far more prolific than the stronger soldiers in previous titles. Set quite a while after Brotherhood, guns have become even more commonplace, but the real difficulty lies in fighting multiple Janissary soldiers, all of whom have wrist guns too, and so can hem you in with blows from their heavy weapons and shoot you where you stand. The Assassin’s Creed team told me that the Janissary were implemented to give series fans more of a challenge, and they certainly have achieved that."

I really hope the below is true, but I won't believe it until I play it myself; after Brotherhood's, and AC2's terrible combat that provided zero challenge at all.

Thankfully everything else is distracting me from AC hype this year. Revelations should be awesome.

Too true. So many brilliant games coming out within the next 2 months or so. And there's still Bioshock Infinite, Max Payne 3, Darksiders 2, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider and Mass Effect 3 coming out early next year.

It's just a great time to be a gamer

MostJadedGamer2617d ago

There are only 2 games coming out the rest of the year.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations- Nov 15
Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat- Dec 6

BushLitter2617d ago

Dude, if you want to restrict yourself, by all means, go ahead.

If it's anything like the multiplayer mode from the last game, it should be awesome, even if it's still a side attraction.
