Rockstar: Red Dead Redemption on PC isn't happening, not 'viable'

David Hinkle of Joystiq writes:
We've got bad news for you and your custom-built, Western-themed PC gaming rig (complete with tumbleweed HDD and whiskey-distilling cooling fan). Rockstar has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption is not coming to the PC. In a Q&A on the company's blog, Rockstar explains, "All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms."

Shame. It's one hell of a game.

I've been holding out all this time too...Oh well.

Console gaming is big business...

fluffydelusions4437d ago

So why make LA Noire on PC and not RDR?

Jobesy4437d ago

For the same reason some devs make a game for pc but not consoles, it's their choice.

caboose324437d ago

Yea, I'm pretty sure RDR would have more sales on pc then LA. I use to own it for xbox 360 back when I had one, and I would re-buy the game again for pc.

Sobari4437d ago

Guess I won't be playing it, then. Oh well.

lazzy....
and they are working on GTA5...

LA Noire its smaller...

banjadude4437d ago

Damn... have it for PS3 (which is great), but really wanted to also get it for PC, to see what the modding community would come up with.

evrfighter4437d ago

Maybe that's what their scared of.

Look what icehancer did. Made them look like chumps

stu8884437d ago

i don't think this icehancer could make anything to the scale and depth of RDR, and the story...

At the end of the day modders are not as good as developers, otherwise they would be in the development team.

end of.

If you haven't completed this game, don't bother sharing your opinion because its worthless.

stu8884437d ago

why mod this game? it's near perfection.

iamgoatman4437d ago

Although it is a great game, it's no where near perfect, and theres a lot a modding community could add to make it even better, just look at GTA4.

outwar60104437d ago

mods do amazing things more missions would be nice and I've always wanted the ghost rider horse in this game

banjadude4437d ago (Edited 4437d ago )

When I mean mods, I am referring to minor fixes (like textures and stuff), but I mostly refer to mods that add to the game (like new weapons, new missions, etc).

Xbox Series X/S players feel forgotten by Rockstar after Red Dead Redemption 60fps PS5 port

Earlier this week, Rockstar quietly added a 60fps toggle to Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 5. The game, which was released back in August for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, can be played on PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility. And now, that little toggle gives PlayStation 5 users a new framerate to play around with while exploring the Wild West.
