EarthBound (or Mother 2) is a SNES game which was released in 1994 in Japan, 1995 in North America and never in Europe. A cult-classic and generally regarded as one of the best RPGs of the nineties, EarthBound follows the adventures of Ness as he sets off to save the universe from an evil alien named Giygas. The game is really rather more surreal and twisted than this basic plot premise may suggest, and so Egg Says Whut's very own Sebastian has taken it upon himself to help you more easily digest just exactly what type of story EarthBound is attempting to tell, albeit very subtlely.
Like many Nintendo games, the world may appear both bright and cheerful, but this game hides many dark layers below its colourful surface. So pour yourself a glass of fine wine, then sit back and relax as we find the plot of EarthBound.
IGN writes: Mother 3 is one of the most hotly-desired RPGs ever, having never received an official translation in North America despite the cult popularity of its predecessor, Earthbound. But over all these years, series creator Shigesato Itoi has never weighed in on the discussion - at least until now."
The long-awaited documentary, which highlights the online community that's built around cult SNES RPG EarthBound over the years. It's an examination of the power of online communities and fandom, and the impact that Shigesato Itoi's series has had on its fans.
EarthBound is bona fide classic and part of gaming royalty that somehow still feels like a hidden gem.
You're so lame and boring almost GAY. Cut the crap.
