When Did I Become a Slave to Multiplayer?

started off with D.O.D(original) then cod4 now its battlefield games.

online multiplayer is the best thing since sliced bread. since i have kids i no longer invite friends round at night to play sofa co-op/multiplayer.they cause a bag load of noise and eat your food or feel the need to piss on your toilet seat.....because of online multiplayer they do it in the comfort of there own home.

When I started playing cod but that all ended when my xbl sub ended, doubt I will get back xbl for online gaming, my main use for it now is just patches,updates and fixes.

I think there should be more games that focus on one or the other. Having a Fallout and a Bad Company 2 is better than a game that spreads too thin trying to offer it all. I think the digital market will allow for more variety in that sense.

BUT if you think about it you wont fell so bad that you spent $60 for a game if you spend hours upon hours playing multiplayer or single player, so you get your money's worth.

It doesn't matter to me, if I want the game I'll buy it regardless as I hardly ever play multi-player any more. There are just too many single player games to catch up on to waste time on multi-player.

storyline kept me busy for hours the multiplayer for about 10 min. something about invasion america seems cool (not in real life ofcourse)same with BF3 a mean attaking france WW3 is happening in both MW3 and BF3 idk both games will keep me occupied for hours for there story.

It all depends on the gamer and their friends. Now I have friends who are probably just like him. One of my friend is getting MW3 over BF3 because that's what his friends are playing.

As for me? I haven't bought a COD game since COD4. I have some friends who bug me to do the same but I refuse. I also have friends who play for a good game with a good story. Multiplayer is second priority. I fall into this category.

Even then, co-op play (very lacking this gen) is preferred over competitive multiplayer. So some of my friends and I usually look for games with a good story and haven't quite become a slave to MP which is also why I'm glad PSN is free. I play online when I'm in a mood but not frequent enough to justify paying for it.

KZ2 was the last MP I was deeply into, after that I started falling out of the MP scene.

I still play MP now and then but I focus on SP more.

Halo 2 got me hooked into multiplayer.
Gears of War (Loved it)
Halo 3 (Enjoyed it)
COD 4
Halo 3 (Went back to it)
Gears of War 2
COD WAW (Played it for like 2 weeks)
Mw2 broke the addiction.

I'm happy to say I'm not a slave to multiplayer. I do have my games that I definitely want to play online- Uncharted and Battlefield, as well as DC Universe- but I guess because I came up playing rpgs, I don't NEED multiplayer, nor do I want it in all my games.

I think the main pull of multiplayer is the friend aspect, followed by the draw of competition.
