StrengthGamer: "It's the flawlessly written story and execution of Gears of War 3 that not only place it on top of the Gears trilogy, but ranks it as one of the best stories of all time."
Man, I just don't get why everyone loves this series so much. I mean, it is a good game, but the reviews it has been receiving I can't reconcile with the game I am playing. :/
i'm with you. how anyone can think the story in Gears 3 is "flawlessly written" is beyond me. it's a great game. and the storytelling is...better than Gears 2. but, that isn't really saying much, you know?
I've noticed the divide seems to be because us older gamers played games with better stories a decade or more ago whereas the younger gamers this is their "Planescape" or "Wizardry", you know?
I actually agree with you guys on the story part. The worst one was probably 2, but they did improve it a little bit for gears 3. However i think the bread and butter of gears series is in its gameplay. I think it just has the best coop and MP modes this gen (just my opinion). Most intense and personnel MP game i have ever played (thanks to the fact that respawning is very limited making your every action counts and much more personnel), and popping heads and blow others to pieces just feel so much more satistifying than other games. U can feel the full impact of your weapons. It is just a very visceral game.
yeah, the gameplay feel is gears' stronger point, it just feels right and is really responsive, still, I really don't think it is "perfection". the art is really good also. It's just my opinion but I find it kinda slow, and some of the bigger mobs feel really bullet spongy, when you're on your third clip pumped into an enemy and you didn't change cover, it starts feeling a bit redundant. That said, I'm having a blast in horde mode, it's a lot of fun, but I just can't bring myself to finish the campaign, it nothing special...
i agree with review.Gears of war 3 is an epic masterpiece. It's simply awesome!
