Blade and Soul: You're Doing It Wrong

GMMAS: I happened to stumble across something in my internet travels that reminded me of an old post that I did about industry game artist Hyung Tae Kim – who gets paid a lot of money to draw freakishly distorted women with flopping distended lemons pinned to their chests, freakishly long legs, and lovingly detailed ladybits. I kind of forgot about it for a while, but it looks like NCSoft – the publisher of Guild Wars – is picking up Blade and Soul – the MMO that HTK has been hired to design – for publication, formerly referred to by the code name “Project M”. I’ve been having trouble finding details, but I’m assuming this means it will be available for publication in North America, which is about a million different kinds of fucked up. I can't tell if "wundergeek" is female or not, but the post reeks of a feminist pissed off by an art style. I can agree with questionable anatomical positioning and distortions in the design of the character, but get over the "it's degrading to women" B.S. THESE ARE GAMES! The only "men" who will think of women the way that these "feminists" b*tch about are men who already have underlying mental problems or were raised to think that way.

These games are about escaping reality. Everyone with a brain knows women do not normally look like that and never will. That's not the point. Do you think men look like Marcus Fenix in Gears of War? Or Kratos in God of War? You think men care? Of course not. I wish this "games are sexist towards women" B.S. would just stop. They're games, not reality. As much as there is no legitimacy to connecting Grand Theft Auto to school violence and youth murders, there is no legitimacy to connecting the design of game characters to real life gender issues and relationships.

If you're offended by the design of a game character, you already have a HUGE mental problem of your own to deal with, and it's also likely you're upset you don't look that good either.

i think it's obvious wich . Anyway it's the epitomy of ridicule ... complaining about the lack of realism of an art that never pretended to be realistic and anatomically correct to begin with .

Notice how the offender picked happens to heavily features skimpy outfits and how it features solely on female characters ... when there are even worse (oh yeah far worse) example of innacuraccy .

It's just a (not so) disguised rant about sexualized female characters in such art style

yeah, people like this that complain are retarded, not all outfits look like this in the game, they dont have to wear these, and some women like playing as a sexy character, my fiance is one who loves seeing big tits in games aslong as the character is pretty etc, especially in an mmo, who wants to play as someone ugly.

sure u dont have to look like a slut, but again, their out conservative and non conservative outfits, choose the one you like

and to baka, yeah, most of the men are shirtless in this game aswell, its like guys complaining their dudes have big muscles and aren't fat haha

Its just a game, If I remember when Aion was coming out people were complaining the about the female design for that game is well. Its just a game,if you don't like the models you don't play its pretty easy. I wanna play blade and soul looks interesting then again I also wanna try tera and pretty much anything else that comes out why. Cause its something to do. Do I care if they have non realistic characters nope. Why do I want realism in a unrealistic game. We all know if it was realistic people would complain 10x more if not the same amount. So in the end its a waste of time to argue. Now Ive wasted time talking oh well lol.

I remember this site, they used to post lots of feminist articles on N4G a while back, it was getting annoying, I guess they are back for more.

Always complain about how women are portrayed in games and what not.
