The 3DS games of TGS: Preview (Modojo)

Fred Dutton (Modojo): Given the number of delightful oddities that came out of Japan when the DS first launched, it's been rather sad to see such a conservative first wave of 3DS software. With that in mind, not to mention the relative paucity of announcements at E3 a few months back, this year's Tokyo Games Show was an important week for the handheld. Would developers finally step up with some serious support for the system, or would the industry place all its chips on PlayStation Vita?

The 7 Best Sonic the Hedgehog Games: Racing through Time

Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?

Rebel_Scum80d ago

Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.

Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.

Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Snookies1280d ago

Nothing wrong with putting Generations over Mania. Generations had a lot more to it. Mania was just a bit too short, despite how amazing it was. They're both top-tier Sonic games though.

Profchaos80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

I don't think mania was to short given 1,2,3, knuckles were between 1 and 3 hours long.

Mania was 5 hours roughly

However i say the originals feel more repayable because they are so short

Profchaos80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

The 8 bit games were pretty bad overall do you mean the 16 bit ones

Rebel_Scum79d ago

Nope. Sonic 1 & 2 on the master system were great. Dont confuse these with the game gear versions either.

Profchaos80d ago

Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2

Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭

Chocoburger78d ago

Even as a Sonic fan, I didn't really care for those games, and getting the Chaos Emeralds were freakin' horrible. Even with an emulator and save states, I didn't have the desire to try. I also didn't like most of the levels or bosses either. Unfortunately, DiMPs aren't good at making Sonic games.

games likes these are a dead, what a shame.

Everyone is focused on open world unfortunately 😒 2000s had some of the best games in general. Just enough depth that you don't have to sign your life away to complete a game.

isarai157d ago

Seriously, I miss classic character action hack n slash games. Now everything is either huge open world gruel or a souls-like, often both.

Dandalandan117157d ago

Ikr? I would love a new Tenchu game.
It doesn't need to be a big budget with epic scope or other BS. Just a fun game like before with updated graphics and some quality of life improvements.

isarai157d ago

I'm hoping the success of armored core they'll be more inclined to revisit Tenchu as it really showed that a smaller scope game with a tight refined experience can be a success as well as the huge complex open RPG affairs. Still bums me out that Sekiro started as a new Tenchu, but they changed their mind halfway through development.

Relientk77157d ago

Man what I'd give for a new Tenchu game

Furesis157d ago

you almost did get one but instead u got Sekiro (Great game)
maybe next time

jznrpg156d ago

Sekiro is nice consolation for sure. But still would like Tenchu

*ARAGAMI 1 and 2 for a current fix

**Wrath of Heaven is probably the greatest ninja/stealth game ever.

Shinobi was okay. Your sword drained your health. So you had to constantly keep moving. You couldn't take your time to even explore or even breath. Nightshade rectified this.

The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.
