Resident Evil 4 HD doesn't cost what Capcom said it would

Looking to pick up Resident Evil 4 'Now In HD' when you get home tonight? Well, if you're thinking about putting down some Microsoft Points on the horror shooter, we'd advise holding off until further clarification on the pricing comes in from Capcom.

Resident Evil 4 HD is currently sitting on Xbox Live Marketplace for £14.99 or 1840 Microsoft Points, slightly different to the £15.99/1600 MSP price point the publisher previously announced.

The whole points thing is so annoying, why can't they just use real currency.

Yi-Long5021d ago

... I DO mind Capcom's greed in asking for a whopping 20 euro/1840 MSP for a lazy port of an old game.

Marcello5021d ago

I paid 1680 points for it, i am in the Netherlands.

RBdrift5021d ago (Edited 5021d ago )

This is why people should get PS+. Also Resident evil 1,2,3 are available for free on PS+.

Mgs4isOverrated5021d ago

I'm getting for the PS+. More people should jump on the Playstation plus bandwagon. Capcom always gives us stuff.

Because with points they can rip off certain markets while advertising prices in a different currency.

They've been ripping off Canadian users since the launch of XBL. Even while CAD was higher than USD, Canadian point prices remained inflated compared to US. The same holds true in Europe using pounds.

Meanwhile the same content is usually available on PSN for the 'actual' advertised price in local currency, usually a few dollars cheaper than on XBLM as a result.

Blaze9295021d ago

Games on Demand games dont use MS Points...at least in the US. I paid straight $19.99 for my download

LightSamus5021d ago

Hit X on the buy now screen and it'll change it.

Blaze9295021d ago

how can you all disagree with facts? When you buy a Games on Demand title, you can either use points or pay the dollar amount.

This website is ridiculous.

wait wait wait......am i reading this right??? on the psn plus its 10.00 and on live its 20??

Mozilla895021d ago

That's right, but remember that's PSN+ not regular PSN. Capcom said that they worked with Sony to put up that discount, I guess MS wasn't willing to to do this?

Legion5020d ago

@onyoursistersback

Yes that is a temporary sale promotion between Sony and Capcom. Helping to promote PSN+.

KRUSSIDULL5020d ago

Blaze I disagree with you only because Games on Demand does offer MSP currency you just need to change it or press X where you are about to confirm your purchase. I was like you before and didnt know that. PS that Article is 2 years old so that could be when they only had real currency available.

Because MS is greedy, and Capcom is just as greedy.

Love the $10 price on PSN+

Honky Kong5021d ago

yep...
the game is a waste of money

M1chl5020d ago

Blame Microsoft for Capcoms game price.

n1kki65021d ago

Im making a huge assumption here, but I have two theories to the points system.

I mm guessing when they came up withe the points system, they may have been thinking about the potential of awarding points for in game achievements/milestones/contes ts. With hacking though the possibility.

or

They probably cash in huge on the left over $1 - $2 dollars that never get used.

alex33695020d ago

the second point makes more sense but i understand the first one too. when people have 100 or so points what should they do? BUY MORE! then they can spend those 100 points toward another purchase. your right!

BX815020d ago

LMAO @ everyone who says you should get PSN+ for this old game. There has to be a better reason to get PSN+ other than RES4HD.

Blaine5020d ago

I was one of the people who were most against PSN+ when the service was launched. I didn't think it was worth it at the time. But a lot has changed since then, and the service is very much worth it now.

Rebates on a large percentage of the games available on the PSN Store, free games, full game trials, automatic update downloads for your games, cloud game-saves, etc. The service is easily worth its price tag now, 10$ RE4 port or not.

BX815017d ago

Oh no doubt! I liked PSN when it was free. I see the potential in something like that. I just don't see HD versions of an old game being a reason to buy.

Title should specify that this article is for EU only.

gillri5021d ago

you'll find american articles like these tend to not to specifiy if its a dollar related article also

Ares84HU5021d ago

True, but that should specify it as well I think. Just my opinion though.

solidboss5021d ago

doesn't matter, whether its American related or European related it should specify the region in the title because the way the title is written is as though it were referring to all territories

SuperStrokey11235021d ago

Why? It has the currency right in the discription? I would think it would be obvious.

solidboss5021d ago (Edited 5021d ago )

looking through the n4g home page this is all that you see

"Looking to pick up Resident Evil 4 'Now In HD' when you get home tonight? Well, if you're thinkin... | Xbox 360"

your right the currency is in the description but you have to click the link before to notice that. as i stated above the region should be specified in the title period.

kramun5021d ago

Yes, clicking on that link and finding out it was about Europe must have hurt your poor little fingers, and wasted a few seconds of your life.

Such a shame they didn't specify in the title.

franko5021d ago

I'm trying to download it from US store and i cant because of STUPID region restriction or something. What a bunch of idiots! I'm trying to BUY IT, not steal it!

caseh5021d ago (Edited 5021d ago )

If you're in the UK or Europe thats because they know they can fleece us for an extra £5 or so for exactly the same game.

Sony policy:

'Lets charge $19.99 for the US market and £17.99 for the UK market because going by the Sony currency convertor thats a bloody bargain!'

*cry*

Lord_Sloth5021d ago

Yes. Let's blame Sony for a Capcom title's price.

ssb31735021d ago

So true... rip off britain

Dark_king5020d ago

I believe that your region has multiple languages on many of its games. That may be one reason you pay more not only would it be a bit larger download but thats extra work that Capcom nor Sony wants to pay.

milliways5021d ago

Reminds me of the Deadly Premonition port to XBL's Games on Demand earlier this year, where the price they were asking in the UK was £5 more than it was supposed to be.

noxeven5021d ago

Funny cause this game new sells for 9.99 even though im gonna buy im just saying lol

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits23d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199222d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH22d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay22d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
